Jim, When you speak of volcano effects, you may want to include the radiation spewed from a volcano. EX: I was working in Michigan Dept of Pubic Health with a radiation counter in my career when Mt. St. Helens erupted.Every day prior to experiments I recorded the background radiation. There was nearly none. When the ash cloud hit the atmosphere over Michigan, the radiation reading was so high, it was off the scale. I reported to my supervisors – they told me to be quiet about it.
