A False Hope
The more I studied the Scriptures, the more I became convinced that we are living in the last days, and that we will soon begin seeing the fulfillment of the predictions in the prophetic books of the Bible, including the cataclysmic conditions on earth, which will precipitate the rise of the Antichrist.
I also saw a connection between the escapist Rapture and those who espouse a materialistic gospel. I became convinced that we are wasting so much time and energy teaching people how to get rich and how to become self-fulfilled, we have not adequately prepared them for what is to come. Instead of the Church presenting a false hope by preaching the pretribulation Rapture, we should be spending this time informing believers that they will have to go through the Tribulation, or at least some part of it. We should be teaching people to fall in love with Jesus. We should be spending our time, energy, and resources getting spiritually ready for a severe period of persecution and a time of unparalleled upheaval.
To think otherwise, one must totally ignore church history. Brutal persecutions have often been the normal experience for believers. From the earliest years of Christianity, believers were stoned, burned at the stake, dragged through the streets with their feet tied to stampeding animals, and used as human torches. During these persecutions God did not magically remove His people from their tormentors’ grasp, but He gave them the grace necessary to go through their tortures. What makes us think God should cut us a break and allow us to escape before the onslaught of hell comes on the earth? Have we been more faithful than those early saints? Are we more worthy of an easy ride to heaven than they were?
Going back to Matthew 24, I found that throughout Jesus’ listing of the signs of the times, He does not even hint at a pretribulational Rapture. In fact, He laid the emphasis on just the opposite order of events. Jesus described some of the signs that are even now beginning to take place, but the overall tenor of the passage is that even though we will see these things, the end is not yet. Jesus then said:
For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall. And unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days shall be cut short. (vv. 21-22 NASB)
Reading the account naturally, without imposing our own ideas or wishful thinking into it, the order of events seems to take place logically.
But immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken, and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other. (vv. 29-31 NASB).
Notice the order of events. These things happen after the Great Tribulation, “and then… (we) will see the Son of Man coming.” And they certainly do not seem to be done in secret. In fact, the tribes of the world, those who do not know the Lord, will mourn at His coming. In the chapters ahead, we will see that they have good reason to mourn.
Will Christians go through the Great Tribulation? I believe we will experience at least some part of it before Jesus Christ returns. When I speak on this subject nowadays, I facetiously tell audiences, “I tried my best to keep us out of the Tribulation. For years I preached that we would escape it. In my studies while in prison, I searched for hours on end, trying to find some way that believers would escape the difficult times about to come on the earth, but I couldn’t do it. I am convinced now that we are going through. Hold on tightly to Jesus. It’s going to be a wild ride!”

I don’t really know if we’ll go through it (the tribulation) or not, and I don’t really spend much time worrying about it. I wish the Lord would come right now, because I often tire of this evil fallen world but then I get spirit filled and know that God has some more things for me to be prepared for and do, what I do not yet know. I used to be heavily into end time prophecy study but found out that God wanted me to be more involved in the here and now. I love seeing and hearing about miracles, that really grows my faith and grace through faith is really all it’s about. Look what Jesus spent most of his time doing, it was teaching the power of faith. He tested and showed this to the disciples and others repeatedly.

I was seeking the Lord on answers about will the Christians be here for the tribulation. So many people and pastors say no we wont but its just a great idea that we would like to hold onto and believe because the tribulation is going to be hard. The fact is we will be going trough some things God tells us all along throughout the Bible that following God is not an easy road… Many are called but few are chosen. For those of you who dont know or understand seek God and really reach for him and he will show you the truth for yourselves. I pray that you do this because there are hard times to come.

It is possible, according to the scriptures, that we will go through the Great Tribulation period.
It is possible, that the “Great Tribulation” will last for about 3 1/2 years. Because the 1st 31/2 years, “Anti-Christ” is trying to look like a “good-guy”. According to the scriptures and current events, we may go through the first 6 seals. I do not believe everyone will be a martyr (1 Thess.4:13-18), not everyone will die.
You are totally correct, but the person is the Anti-Messiah. The Two Witnesses come the first 3 1/2 years to teach the truth, and they are killed in the midst of the 7 year peace plan. The last 3 1/2 years is when the killings start. We are living now at the very end of the 5th Seal. The first 4 Seals have already happened.
Sorry, I got to comment on this one as well. There is no where in the Holy Scriptures stating that the Tribulation will only be 7 years. There is mention of a 7 year “Peace Treaty”; but no mention of 7 year Tribulation. There is mentioned a “Great Tribulation”. I belive Jim is on track. There are 3 main theories of the “Great Tribulation” and the only thing the 3 have in common is “7 years of bad-luck” – LOL
They only agree on the “7 years of GREAT TRIBULATION”. It is not there. 7 years is mentioned and divided and everything; but the “GREAT Tribulation” has no time frame given.

Barry — In the NKJV Luke 17:37 reads like this: And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?” So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.” This verse used to puzzle me until I concluded that we will be caught up together with the dead — in the clouds — to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17), which is where the eagles fly. Remember, Jesus is answering His disciple’s question, “Where, Lord?” It is at that moment when we receive our glorified bodies (1 Corinthians 15:51-53). So when we look at Luke 17:34-37 in context, one person will be taken while another is left behind. The person that is taken will meet Jesus in the clouds, since Jesus’ feet will not touch the earth until Zechariah 14:4. The person that is left will be forced to endure the Tribulation. Beautifully said Daniel. I always wondered what mid and post trib believers do with the verse that the restrainer must be removed before the antichrist will be revealed. Thanks for backing up your statements with scripture. It also seems to me if there is no pretrib rapture then we would know the timeline when the peace treaty is signed with Israel. We live in exciting days and need to witness with urgency. The Lord is coming!

I must disagree with Pastor Jim, because Matthew 24:36-44 does support the pre-tribulation view. First, nobody knows the day or hour when Jesus will return (vs. 36). That’s true. He is talking about the Rapture. When the anti-christ is revealed to confirm the seven-year peace treaty with Israel and the international community (Daniel 9:27; Isaiah 28:15), the church is in heaven. The anti-christ cannot be revealed until the Restrainer is taken out of the way (2 Thessalonians 2:7-8). The Holy Spirit living inside of each born-again beliver represents the Restrainer. So when the anti-christ confirms the seven-year treaty with Israel and the international community, that will tell those left behind that they have exactly seven years (to the day) until the Second Coming of Jesus. Remember, the Rapture takes place in the clouds (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18), whereas with the Second Coming, Jesus’ feet will touch the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4). Notice in Zechariah 14:5 that “all the saints” are with Jesus. This coincides directly with Revelation 19:14. The Bride receives her “fine linen” in Revelation 19:7-9, which is the marriage supper of the Lamb. Now, back to Matthew 24:37. When the Rapture occurs, everything will seem normal. People will be eating, drinking, getting married, and living life. The world will be filled with violence and corruption (Genesis 6:11-12), which is exactly like our day, but there will also be a sense of normalcy and complacency. People will simply be caught unaware. Contrast this surprise will the terror that the world will experience in Matthew 24:21-22. The Great Tribulation will be so horrible that unless God intervenes, no flesh will survive. Now does that sound anything like Matthew 24:38-39? It does not. All normalcy has gone out the window. Complete terror reigns. Finally, “Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming” (Matthew 24:40-42). Clearly, this is talking about the Rapture. We are to be ready, because this day will come at an hour when we do not expect. When we see all the signs that Jesus described, “we are to look up and lift up our heads, because our redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28). We are to be spiritually prepared at all times. Israel is a nation (Ezekiel 36:24). Jerusalem is in Jewish control (Luke 21:24). The fig tree, and all the trees are in full bloom (Luke 21:29-33). All the trees represent all the nations that will come against Israel in Ezekiel 38 and 39, as well as Psalm 83:2-8. Daniel, I would like to point something out to you that a lot of pre-tribbers miss, now don’t get me wrong I am a pre- tribber myself. Look at the wording of Matthew 24:36-44. The flood took the wicked away while Noah was safe in the ark. Now look at verses 40 and 41 and compare them with Luke 17:34-37. Look what verse 37 says. Look where they where taken. This is describing Armageddon (Revelation 19:17-21). Matthew chapter 24 & 25 are talking about the second coming and not the rapture of the church. All the post-tribbers like to say that Matthew 24:31 is the rapture, but that is wrong also, these elect here are the scattered Jews through out the whole world. Jesus don’t need angels to rapture the church, for we will be like him when we are changed, flesh and bone. When Christ returns the world will not expect him coming back and it will catch them off gaurd, like it did when the flood came and took them all away. Now to the days being shortened. Look at the wording in Matthew 24:22. “The elect’s sake”. Israel is the subject here. The number one thing that the muslim world wants today is to wipe out Israel. If those day’s didn’t stop after three and a half years of the Great Tribulation they would surely wipe out Israel. The Antichrist doesn’t take the whole world over like a lot of people believe. My question is about the one NOT yet fulfilled.
Is it related to Heritage, becoming as “Jerusalem” in the earth, a place a refuge for the Jews in time of distress? The Upperroom being the place for the original faith of the Nazarenes to go forth by His appointed Shepherd????

This is a time of renewing as the earth is now awakening(coming out of a state of dormancy)so must the Church.This is a time to shake off the old and enter into the new.There is a process that we will go through as we are coming into a new time ,those who resist this process will be shipwrecked,those who surrender to the process will surely come into a new day.This process is a time of trying and purging.This is a time for the saints to enjoin and come under one law of truth and forgiveness in order to move into this time that the body of Christ will move in the power of God that He shall grace them with.If we heed the words of the prophets and abide by the doctrine of God this shall be a time of true abundance and healing grace.We must hear,obey,and live God’s word and die to self and we shall truly live.AMEN This word of the Lord came to me on 4-30-11 GOD BLESS
we are in the great trib by abortion. in the usa we have murdered over 50 million babies. rev 19: 11-16 is anti/christ on the white horse. blood comes up about 7 1/2 feet and goes out many miles. thinking that is JESUS is part of the great delusion. GOD blessed you with a great son.
We will go through at least 1335 days of it. There will be 3.5 years of relative peace after the Ezekial 38-39 war. Then, the Antichrist will take away the oblation on the temple mount, and he will set up an image of himself in the upper corner of the tabernacle. He declare himself to be god. When this happens, there will be a period of time carved out in the middle (about 45-49 days) called the Day of the Lord, when the sun will be darkened, etc. This day will conclude the ‘day’ acknowledged by Peter on Pentecost. Many will die. Israel will flee to Petra. The church will be raptured, and all eyes will see it. Israel will see the one they have pierced, and they will all be saved (the living remnant). The bowl judgments will then happen (last 3.5 years), with Israel as God’s instrument, and the 144,000 select Israelites evangelizing. Anyone who does not repent will go through the tribulation, and Jesus did warn some churches of this fact.
Hi Dale H. I just read your comment from may 2nd and I see here where you have stated that the church will be raptured,all eyes will see it. Israel will flee. you say the church will escape the bowl judgements. You are “absolutely” correct. The church will suffer through the tribulation of the seal and trumpet judgements but will be gone before the bowl judgements because the church is not appointed the wrath of GOD! The church however is appointed the wrath of satan which will be the seal and trumpet judgements of revelation.This is a mid-trib view but it’s the only view that is biblical.It’s the same that Pastor Jim found. He found no pre-trib view and neither can I. I was happy to see that you have down that the bowl judgments will happen. Also, anyone who does not repent now will go through all of the tribulation. They have to “CONFESS-REPENT-FORSAKE! It’s their only hope of eternal life. I’ll be looking for any comments you may have on this website. Blessings, W.R. in Tennessee
I agree. I have been teach the pre rapture but, now I am looking for the truth so I can be ready and warn others. I Thank God for you keep up the very good work God has given you.
