The bible in 1Chronicles 12:32 says the sons of Issachar had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.

“And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.”

In today’s world, understanding the times is essential and yet impossible without spiritual guidance from the Word of God. There is nothing coming from the news media in this country which is believable, and nothing except reassuring babble coming from our political spokespeople and often from our pulpits as well. We truly need to have a supernatural understanding of the times we live in, and the events that are occurring with increased urgency. Along with our understanding of the times, we must know what to do to be ready!

Today, we are seeing famines, deadly diseases, and more storms, tornadoes, earthquakes and volcanoes than ever before. The Bible tells us that these are signs of the Lord’s soon-coming. Knowledge and violence has increased, and we are moving rapidly toward a one-world government and one-world religion. We see Israel, the apple of God’s eye, surrounded on all sides by their enemies and Jerusalem as the source of international conflict. We are seeing signs in the heavens, and the sea and the waves roaring (tsunamis). We see scoffers and mockers calling evil good, and good evil and becoming worse and worse in their boldness. There are wars and rumors of wars. Idolatry and the love of money has corrupted the world and the much of the Church. Many Christians have departed from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. There is a mixture of true believers and false pretenders within the Church (wheat and tares).

While the earth groans, laboring with pain for His return, we should seek to be understanding of these times. As the sons of Issachar understood the times and knew what to do, we should pray also that we will have wisdom and understanding.

There are many prophetic voices within the Body of Christ sounding the alarm and warning the people of God to be ready! That is what we are doing here at Morningside, sounding the alarm! There is a clear sound going out to all who have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to perceive what the Spirit is saying unto the Church.

Lord, I pray that you would awaken your people to the times and seasons we are living in. I pray for those leaders within Your Church to have spiritual understanding of what to do in these perilous times. Let us not be distracted or deceived. Help us to sound a clear warning that all will hear and be ready! Show us what to do and bring those around us who will help us do it. Unite us in vision and in purpose. Help us, Lord, to know you more and to love you more. Show us how to love and help one another to be ready for perilous times. Strengthen and encourage us with the knowledge that we will soon see YOU coming in the clouds.
