Tropical Depression Bill Causes Flooding

Tropical Storm Bill weakened Wednesday to a tropical depression but is still bringing massive amounts of rain to south Texas.

“Rainfall will result in significant flooding across central and eastern Texas and into southern Oklahoma through Wednesday night,” AccuWeather meteorologist Chyna Glenn told USA Today.

However, Texas is not the only state bearing the brunt of Bill’s wrath.

Southern and eastern Oklahoma have reported more than a foot of rain including just over 13 inches reported at Newport, Oklahoma. Interstate 35 in southern Oklahoma was closed due to flooding and one exit had to be closed because the rain dislodged boulders which rolled into the roadway.

Multiple rivers including the Red River, Trinity River and Washita River are either at flood stage or are forecasted to be reaching flood stage by the weekend.  The National Weather Service said the flooding from the Washita River in Oklahoma could be “catastrophic.”

The storm is moving eastward into Missouri and Arkansas, bringing heavy rain and the possibility of flooding in those states.

FBI Operation To Disrupt American ISIS Sympathizers

The FBI is currently conducting an operation to disrupt potential domestic terrorists who are being radicalized by ISIS.

ABC News confirmed that the operation is taking place and that the latest arrest happened in New York on Saturday.  A college student thought al-Qaeda was “getting soft” and was “making efforts to prepare an explosive device for detonation.”

Fareed Mumuni, 21, has been charged with attempting to murder a federal employee after attacking a FBI agent with a knife during his arrest.

The arrest was part of an operation to take down Munther Omar Saleh, a 20-year-old American citizen now facing charges of conspiring to to provide material support to ISIS.

The papers filed by prosecutors claim Salah endorsed the ISIS attack on Charlie Hebdo in France and the attempted assault on the Draw Muhammad contest in Texas.  He also endorsed several terrorists beheadings by ISIS.

Authorities said that investigations were underway in all 50 states and have already led to five arrests of suspected terrorist sympathizers.

Powerful Jewish Leader Leaving Anti-Defamation League

Abraham Foxman, who has lead the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for 30 years, announced that he will be retiring this month.

Foxman began his career with the ADL in 1965 when he graduated from law school and rose to be the group’s head in 1987.  Under his leadership, the group has become a $60 million a year organization that runs anti-bias programs, monitors anti-Semitism in the United States and around the world along with advocating for Jews and Israel.

Foxman received praise from all corners of the political world after his announcement.

“Abe is one of the three or four people you have to speak to on any given issue,” said former White House official Jarrod Bernstein, who did Jewish outreach during President Barack Obama’s first term.

“Abe was like an uncle to me. If you did something he thought you were on the wrong side of, he was going to let you know about it,” Bernstein told JTA. “On the flip side, if he thought you were being treated unfairly, or you did something right, he wouldn’t hesitate to say that either. That’s important and we need more of that in the American Jewish community.”

Foxman believes that the work of the ADL is the reason the United States has some of the lowest incidents of anti-Semitism in the world.

“I don’t take credit for it, but I’m part of the effort — not only of the American Jewish community, but of decent people in this country, to fight it,” Foxman said.

“The most significant difference between the United States and the rest of the world is that in this country, there is a consequence to being a bigot and an anti-Semite. If you’re in commerce, if you’re in politics, if you’re in the arts — whatever it is — and you act out as an anti-Semite, you will pay a price.”

Foxman will be replaced by Jonathan Greenblatt, a White House aide.

Greg Laurie: U.S. Needs Israel More Than They Need Us

California pastor Greg Laurie told the thousands at Harvest Church and the millions around the world watching online that America needs Israel more than the other way around in a lesson on the end times.

Laurie said that Israel is at the eye of the hurricane when it comes to the great events of the end times and Jesus made it very clear that Israel is beloved of God.  He added those who bless Israel will be looked upon favorably by the Lord.

“One of the reasons God has blessed the United States is because of our support to Israel. … America needs Israel more than Israel needs America … because we need the blessing of God,” the pastor said.

Laurie reminded the parishioners that the Bible is the only book that clearly outlines what is going to happen in the end times.

“The Bible is the one book that dares to predict the future … with 100 percent accuracy,” he said, adding that about 30 percent of the Bible is prophecy, and that God wants us to know these prophecies. “The more we know about the next world, the better we’ll live in this one.”

Supreme Court Allows Striking Down Of N.C. Abortion Law

A North Carolina abortion law that would have required women to see an ultrasound of their baby before having an abortion has officially been declared unconstitutional as the Supreme Court refused to hear the state’s appeal of a lower court ruling.

The Women’s Right to Know Act was passed in 2011 and immediately challenged by pro-abortion activists and groups.  The law required the abortionist to show the ultrasound to the woman and describe to her the child’s features along with offering a chance to hear the baby’s heartbeat.  The law also included a 24 hour mandatory waiting period.

The rejection by the Supremes means the Fourth Circuit’s ruling invalidates the law.

“This compelled speech, even though it is a regulation of the medical profession, is ideological in intent and in kind,” the panel wrote. “The First Amendment not only protects against prohibitions of speech, but also against regulations that compel speech. A regulation compelling speech is by its very nature content-based, because it requires the speaker to change the content of his speech or even to say something where he would otherwise be silent.”

“Moreover, the statement compelled here is ideological; it conveys a particular opinion,” it continued. “The state freely admits that the purpose … is to convince women seeking abortions to change their minds or reassess their decisions.”

Supporters of the law say that they can’t understand why abortion is the only medical procedure in the state where doctors don’t have to tell the patient what can happen during the procedure.

“In any other medical procedure, doctors would have a duty to disclose all of the relevant information, and, yet, a procedure as destructive and life-changing as abortion is held to a lower standard,” Tami Fitzgerald of the North Carolina Values Coalition told reporters.

“We’re disappointed that the Supreme Court has decided not to review a decision that denies mothers this fully informed consent about human life in the womb and the methods abortionists use to end it,” also commented Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Senior Legal Counsel Steven Aden in a statement. “Contrary to the 4th Circuit’s decision, there is nothing ‘extreme’ about a measure that only seeks to require abortionists to employ technology they are already using for abortions. Abortionists simply don’t want to use it in a way that jeopardizes their profits and shows women the truth.”

Lindsey Graham Reintroduces Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has reintroduced in the Senate the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act that would ban all abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy except in cases of rape and incest.

The bill passed the House of Representatives 242-184 last month.

“This legislation is groundbreaking yet simple at the same time. What I love most about this piece of legislation is how simple it is,” Graham said. “Do you believe that at 20 weeks in the pregnancy, five months, when medical encyclopedias are encouraging young parents to sing to their child because they can begin to recognize the voice, that this is a stage in development where you should be very excited because your child is well on their way? Does the government have a legitimate and compelling interest to protect that baby? The answer, I believe, is yes.”

The Centers for Disease Control says just 1 percent of abortions take place after 20 weeks of pregnancy.  Graham says that information combined with medical proof a baby can feel pain at 20 weeks is compelling evidence to put the measure in place.

The Bill is expected to be a struggle for passage in the Democrat dominated Senate.

Hackers Stole Data On Every Federal Employee

The hack of government servers by a group of suspected Chinese hackers is significantly worse than initially reported.

The national president of the American Federation of Government Employees revealed that the hack released information for every federal employee to the unknown hackers.

“Based on the sketchy information OPM (Office of Personnel Management) has provided, we believe that the Central Personnel Data File was the targeted database, and that the hackers are now in possession of all personnel data for every federal employee, every federal retiree, and up to one million former federal employees,” J. David Cox said in the letter dated Thursday.

The government had admitted the breach was the largest in government history and reached as many as four million employees.

Now Cox has revealed that the Social Security numbers, military records, addresses, birth dates, pay histories, health insurance and pension information of all government employees were at the mercy of the hackers.

The White House has refused to name China as the source of the hacking but several senators including Senator Harry Reid and Senator Susan Collins have said the attack came from China.

American Teen Pleads Guilty To Helping ISIS

A Virginia teenager is planning for life in prison rather than his high school graduation after pleading guilty to helping ISIS.

Ali Shukri Amin, 17, admitted to authorities that he had used his computer to contact ISIS members and helped arrange for an 18-year-old classmate to travel to Syria to join the terrorists.

Amin pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to provide material support to ISIS.

The teen said he ran the twitter handle @Amreekiwitness to “provide advice and encouragement to ISIL and its supporters.”  He also taught followers of the terrorist group how to convert currency to Bitcoin so they could fund the terror group.

“Around the nation, we are seeing ISIL use social media to reach out from the other side of the world,” Assistant Attorney General Carlin said. “Their messages are reaching America in an attempt to radicalize, recruit and incite our youth and others to support ISIL’s violent causes.”

The FBI had been keeping the teenager under surveillance for over a month before they took him into custody.

“Today’s guilty plea demonstrates that those who use social media as a tool to provide support and resources to ISIL will be identified and prosecuted with no less vigilance than those who travel to take up arms with ISIL,” said U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente.

Idaho Republicans Pass Resolution On Bible Use in School

Republicans in Idaho have passed a resolution that would allow the Bible to be used in schools as a reference material.

David Johnston of the Republican Party told KBOI-TV Boise the Bible would be used in multiple subjects just like any textbook.

“I don’t see it as a forcing upon anybody or interfering with it,” said Johnston. “Whether it be geography, history, literature or frankly just the study of the world religions; if there is a school district that thinks having the Bible as part of the curriculum would be useful, this resolution is basically saying, ‘we support the idea of allowing them to have that tool in their tool box.'”

The resolution notes that the Supreme Court has ruled the Bible can be used for historical purposes in schools.

“[T]he use of the Bible for literary and historic value is consistent with the 1st amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and the U.S. Supreme Court in the 1963 case of Abington School District v. Schempp declared that the Bible is worth studying for its literary qualities and its influence on history,” it states. “[I]n 1980, the Supreme Court ruling of Stone v. Braham stated that ‘the Bible can constitutionally be used in an appropriate study of history, civilization, ethics, comparative religion, or the like.’”

No schools would be required to use the Bible, but it would be available as a resource.

Party leaders hope that one of their legislators will turn the resolution into a bill for next year’s legislative session.

President Orders More Troops To Iraq

President Obama has ordered 450 more U.S. troops to Iraq, saying that they will not engage ISIS but train the Iraqi army.

The move by the White House will also including sending weapons to Sunni tribes and the Kurdish Peshmerga fighters that are operating under the Iraqi command structure.  An administration official said the hope is that a new “Sunni uprising” will take place against the terrorists.

The order comes after President Obama admitted last week ahead of the G7 conference that the U.S. did not have a cohesive plan to stop the Islamic terrorists.

The additional troops will be based at Taqaddum military base in Anbar province.

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey told reporters the President asked military leaders to “take a look at what we’ve learned over the last eight months in the train-and-equip program and make recommendations to him on whether there are capabilities that we may want to provide to the Iraqis to actually make them more capable.”

Great Britain said they would be sending an additional 125 troops to help in training.

Currently, there are approximately 3,050 U.S. forces in Iraq. The majority support Iraqi security forces, about 450 train Iraqi troops, and roughly 200 fill advising and assisting roles.
