God will turn any mess into a message of the Gospel if you let Him. – Pastor Jim Bakker
Narrative
Pastor Jim & Lori Bakker welcome Pastor Paul Olson to the stage. Pastor Olson was visiting the show as an audience member. Pastor Paul Olson is 77 years old and still preaches all over the world including India, Africa, and Europe. Pastor Jim and Lori reminisced about how Pastor Olson, along with several other pastors, had a part in their wedding ceremony.
Pastor Jim shared that every day something negative happens to him. He feels like he always does something to mess up, and it causes him to worry. Pastor Jim asked Pastor Olson to pray for him and others who have the same kind of worry.
Pastor Jim shares the word rejoice in the Greek means “grace joy”. He then shared about a recent trip he had taken with the students from Morningside Master’s Media. While they were driving into Branson, the motor suddenly stopped. They had to coast into an old gas station that was no longer open. While they were looking over the bus, Pastor Jim had the students come and sit beneath a shade tree. He began to share with them Philippians 4:8. While teaching this scripture, Pastor Jim looked up and noticed one of the students had a t-shirt that read “100% Pure-Awesomeness”. All Pastor Jim could see was the word “pure”. Pastor Jim shared with them that out of the whole day, the students would more than likely only remember the bus running out of gas and the teaching they had while sitting on the side of the road.
When the students first come to Morningside to be a part of the Master’s Media program, Pastor Jim always writes on the blackboard rule #1″Nothing can go wrong”. What does that mean? All things work together for good for those who love God. Pastor Jim had to practice rule #1 as they waited there on the side of the road.
How do we stop the “evil report”? Shut your mouth! God hates sowing discord more than anything, yet that is what most of our churches are filled with. So what is a good report? Virtue and praise. Think on the good things. Whatever state you find yourself in, be content.
Lori Bakker shared that if Pastor Lloyd Zeigler had not believed in her, she would not be where she is. Pastor Zeigler called her “the Mother Theresa of the inner-city”. When she first went out into the inner-city, she could not even communicate with them. Most of the community was Spanish and she knew very little Spanish. Little did she know, some of the children she ministered to would become her own. Lori was the “church lady” to them. Lori was cursed by the birth mother of some of her adopted children, yet when the birth mother was hurting the most she called on Lori to be by her side. She was going into labor with her 8th child and was having complications. The doctor had to deliver the baby by Cesarian. When it came time to name the baby, the mother said she wanted to name her “Lori”. She said she never wanted to forget what Lori had done for their family.
Lori had 5 abortions before the age of 22 and, due to complications, she was no longer able to have children. God had a plan to restore those babies. Through the ministry Lori had to that family, she was able to adopt 5 children. God can turn any mess into a message of the gospel if you let him.
Its now time for this generation to captivate this generation and lead them to Christ. This generation wants real relationships with people. People who won’t turn against them. People like Jesus. What is the model of Jesus? The Church. When the Church looks like Jesus, that is when He will draw all men unto them.
Discipleship was God’s way. God’s way will take you all the way, and you won’t go alone. You will take your family, your friends, and your neighborhoods with you. Morningside Master’s Media is training students in a new way to present the Gospel. Pastor Jim began to speak into some of the Master’s students lives, naming them one by one asking Partners to pray for these students.
