Narrative

Pastor Jim & Lori Bakker and Pastor Cedric Hayes talk about the history of The Gloryland Pastor’s Choir. The Gloryland Pastor’s Choir was started 3 years ago and has developed into a choir of 50. The choir was started when Pastor Cedric’s daughter wanted to sing in the adult choir, but their voices were not quite mature enough.  Pastor Cedric decided he would start a children’s choir so these children could share the talents God has given them. Pastor Hayes shares that young people today are leaving the Church because the Church has left them. The needs of the children are not being met, they are only being tolerated. Society has also dictated what are children are to have, which is anit-God. Because of this, children have no concept of God. In so many cases, the mom is trying to find the “right one” or a dad is trying to find “himself” and the children are left out in the open. Sometimes, a parents personal sacrifice and happiness needs to be put on hold so that their children can be raised in a Godly way.

Music is the most important thing to this generation. Pastor Hayes credits the success of the choir to “bringing them back to church”. These kids have been given an alternative to what society provides for them. This generation is looking for their purpose. The Church today is not providing a challenge for them to find their purpose. This is why not only this generation, but also the older generation feel the Church has left them.

Pastor Jim asked Gwen to share a word about what God is showing her.  She feels that God will move in this generation with those who are hungry, thirsty, and passionate. This generation needs an encounter. The things that were seen in the days of old, fasting and praying. These are the things God responds to. One of the most powerful medium is television. Our generation needs to see the power of God on TV. Everyone wants to see something real and authentic. We need to see people restored on television.

Sometimes, God has to divide to multiply. Sometimes, people who are causing division need to be removed. Revival will not happen without unity. Wine comes from crushing. Pastor Hayes has experienced crushing. Anyone who has done something for God has been through a crushing time. Pastor Jim shares that discipline is the key. The Church doesn’t like discipline. Pastor Jim shares a requirement for 1st Year Master’s Media Students is that they cannot date for that whole year. They are required to give God their complete attention. Many students leave because of this requirement.

Pastor Hayes shares how his choir has attained a level of excellence; it’s love and sacrifice. He shares about the sacrifices his family has made. The wonderful thing their sacrifice has produced is the love that is shared. Love conquers all, and together we can do anything.

Mondo De La Vega shares that you can’t control the environment around you, but you can change the belief in you. Love has changed the belief in this choir’s life. When the belief is changed, you change the future. When the future is changed, you can change the generation. When a generation is changed, that generation can change history.

Reality is Jesus. Reality is more powerful than fiction. Pastor Jim shares that it is time for a revolution in “Christian Television”. It is time to move to the new level. This generation is so radical. Most of them don’t know “church”. Pastor Jim shares that it is time for us to become shock proof and allow this generation to show the world the reality of Jesus.

Mondo shares that we need the wisdom of the older generation. They will need to be married with the younger generation in order to see revolution. God is not through with the older generation. There are not many of the older generation that are taking the younger generation under their wing.

Pastor Jim shares how Ruth Graham invited him to sit with her at church right after he was released from prison. Not only did he go with her to church, but Ruth invited him to her house with open arms. Pastor Jim states “That’s reality”.

Pastor Lloyd Zeigler shares that we need a new level of young people. He challenges “Where are you?” God wants those that give everything up and follow Him. Those that have paid that cost know that it is worth everything that was paid.

It is time to pass the torch to the next generation. It may be different and more radical, but this is the chosen generation that God has set apart. If we don’t do something, we will loose this generation.

Pastor Jim spoke over The Gloryland Pastor’s Choir that they would win many awards, but stay humble. Their greatness is because of their discipline. They will be great because they persevered.
