Pastor Jim Bakker teaches about the importance of unity within the church. On the Day of Pentecost, the believers were gathered in the Upper Room and had unity. Unity brings peace to people. “If you teach this, people will come flocking to your churches,” says Pastor Jim Bakker.
“The Bible mentions peace five hundred times, ” Pastor Jim Bakker says. In the Sermon on the Mount, Christ blessed the peacemakers and called them the children of God.
Speaking peace includes speaking a blessing over someone. Since the Bible says that power is in the tongue to speak blessing or cursing, Pastor Jim Bakker emphasizes the importance of speaking blessings and peace to people and their homes. It will be up to God to judge if the people deserve the blessing or not. He goes on to teach that if we give a home a blessing and God finds the people undeserving, then our blessing will return to us. If the home is a Godly place and deserves the blessing, then our blessing and peace will remain with the home. False witnesses and people who sow discord are an abomination to the Lord. Pastor Jim Bakker mentions about how the power of blessing influenced his and Lori Bakker’s adoptive daughter to live up to her blessing.
“They said that she was ugly. I told her that she was beautiful. They said that she was stupid and couln’t learn. I told her that she was smart,” says Pastor Jim Bakker. “If you give a child a label, they will live up to it,” Pastor Jim Bakker says.
Pastor Jim Bakker discusses his five-year study of the Book of Revelation and how this book of prophecy promises to be a blessing of peace for those who read it. “Some people are afraid to teach the book of Revelation in our churches today,” he teaches. He says, ” The Greek word interpreted as tribulation is thlipsis, which means pressure.” It does not have to be scary and confusing. Lori Bakker reads the first verse of chapter one in the Revelation and says “It is not only important to read the Word of the Lord, but to live it!”
