Narrative
Pastor Jim Bakker described 2011 as a very exhausting year but said that counting your blessings helps improve your outlook. The new year marks the beginning of a new time and, as in years past, Pastor Jim set out to share the words given to him by God regarding upcoming events. The weightiness of the message caused him to break it into five parts, starting with this program.
Confusion, he warned, is the word to best describe what 2012 holds for America and the world. Pastor Jim cited several headlines that prove beyond doubt that confusion already has taken firm hold in the earth but emphasized that this chaos will only increase. The definition of the word confusion relates to the following words: bewilderment, perplexity, uncertainty, misunderstanding, disorder, turmoil, upheaval, commotion, muddle, mayhem, bedlam, mess and unrest.
Pastor Jim pointed to I Corinthinas 14:33 to remind that God authors peace and organization and that it is the spirit of anti-christ that has caused the world to fall into complete confusion. Continuing with the theme of the number 12, he explained that the numeral stands for organization and structure and reminded how, in the Old Testament, God ordered the grouping of the sons of Israel into 12 tribes and then further sectioned the people into groups of 1000 and 500.
The year 2012 signifies the end of the Mayan calendar, which holds great meaning to many who study astrology and the alignment of planets and stars. Pastor Jim said that those who utilize horoscopes find that they work, at times, because the true God created and set the entire universe, including planets and stars, into order and operation – just like a very sophisticated clock.
Pastor Jim gave encouragement by saying he does not believe the world will end in 2012 but said treachery will increase. He noted how many in society seem to enjoy watching the scandalous downfall of politicians, authorities and even those in the ministry who get caught up in some scandal. He recalled cases in which religious leaders spoke out and condemned one of their own for a certain sin only to have it revealed later on that they themselves indulged in the same behavior. Little attention is paid to the admonition in Galatians 6:1 to restore one who falls, with a spirit of meekness, lest those sitting in judgment fall prey to the same vice in the future.
In international politics, Pastor Jim declared his belief that those who view America as the “great satan” will seek to destroy the state of Israel, even as confusion in the entire Middle East continues to reign with the steady turnover of long time leaders, replaced by more radical elements of the Muslim religion. Moving on to Asia, Pastor Jim shared the news report that China’s president is preparing his country, the only nation able to fulfill Revelation 9:16’s forecast of an Armageddon sized army, for military action against the United States. Turmoil also prevails in Europe at this time, Pastor Jim continued, with the banking and financial crisis that has the Euro on the verge of collapse.
Despite the weight of the message, he also uplifted those heavy in spirit by assuring that safe passage through the troubled times will be granted to those who, per God’s word, get prepared, ready and follow God’s voice during this hour.
