Narrative

Pastor Jim & Lori Bakker began by praising Rabbi Cahn’s congregation of Beth Israel Worship Center in Wayne, New Jersey. Rabbi Cahn received some opposition after the release of the his book “The Harbinger,” which gives America, according to Pastor Jim, a most dire and important warning.

Rabbi Cahn outlined how several trials presented themselves to his congregation prior to the book going to print, one of the trials being the flooding of the worship center under four feet of water as a result of Hurricane Irene. Pastor Jim declared the act a sign from God and Rabbi Cahn agreed, adding that he has found the Lord raises a standard whenever the enemy comes in like a flood.

Rabbi Cahn then went on to define the word harbinger as meaning a foreshadow or sign that something, like the judgment of a nation, is coming. He summarized that the nine harbingers in his book relate to the tragic events of 9/11 and listed them as: (1) the breach, (2) the terrorist, (3) the fallen bricks, (4) the tower, (5) the Gazet stone, (6) the sycamores, (7) the cedar tree, (8) the utterance and (9) the prophecy.

These warnings also relate to Isaiah 9:10 which says: “The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with hewn stone. The sycamores are cut down, but we will replace them with cedars,” (NKJV). This verse, contrary to common belief, contains a rebuke for ancient Israel due to the rebelliousness of the people. Rabbi Cahn drew parallels to what happened on 9/11 and how the terrorist attacks signified the “breach” mentioned, or specifically, God removing His hand of protection from America.

The panel and audience listened in awe as the Rabbi continued making the case that America is doing the same thing the Biblical nation of Israel did when they refused to turn from their wicked ways and allow themselves to be humbled by the chastisement of the Almighty. They set out, instead, to rebuild in the spirit of defiance with the goal of constructing something bigger and better to replace that which the God allowed to see destruction.

These seem like noble goals for the people to have had, and several American leaders are on record as citing this verse as an inspiration for how the United States intended to recover from 9/11. Rabbi Cahn shared that the day after the terrorist attacks of 2001, Congressional leader Tom Daschle read the verse, word for word, as part of the Congressional record, stating what the country aimed to do. Three years later, on the commemoration of the tragedy, then-Presidential candidate John Edwards based his entire speech on the same verse, repeating this “ancient vow of defiance.” Then, on February 24, 2009, President Barack Obama repeated the same words and intent during a public address. These politicians, Rabbi Cahn commented, had no idea what they were doing or that the verse they based their words on really serves as a declaration of rebellion to God and His plan.

The repetition, in effect, has pronounced God’s judgment on America and assures increasing numbers of calamities will strike the nation, including destruction of the country’s once great financial power.

Lori noted how all the panel were speechless after listening to the Rabbi’s message and Pastor Jim said the only hope the country has is in God. The more men try to fix things, he continued, the worse things get. Rabbi Cahn concluded that in the aftermath of 9/11, America has constructed a house of cards that will be destroyed, unless she repents.
