I believe 2012 could be the most radical year in the history of the United States of America. -Pastor Jim Bakker
Narrative
Pastor Jim Bakker opened by announcing that co-host Zach, also a third year media student, had recently preached his first sermon. Zach shared that nerves almost got the best of him but, in the end, he enjoyed the experience, which re-enforced the passion he has to preach. He said all the media students are preparing to be part of the new generation of Christian television. Lori then mentioned that the Morningside Master’s Media program is looking for “young people” who feel called to join the ministry and who want to learn the ins and outs of media production. Pastor Jim, now over 70 years of age, admitted it is time for him to pass the baton to the next generation but remains active because he also has been called to preach and can never escape that mission.
He gave progress reports on other projects, including news that the land has been cleared for Lori’s House and the foundation is ready to go in, after approval of the final permit. Excitement was in the air over the arrival to Grace Street of the huge marble statue of a resurrected Jesus that will eventually be placed on the property. Workers were planning how to successfully and carefully erect the statue, which weighs multiple tons, and secure it on its solid base. Pastor Jim noted that the “I Care Builders Club” members who specially donate toward the Lori’s House, will have their names engraved onto the base, as a long lasting symbol of their support.
As an introduction to the next phase of his 2012 Message series, he referenced Rabbi Jonathan Cahn’s book “The Harbinger,” and said America is doomed for destruction if the nation ignores the warnings contained therein. He quoted a FOX News report that claimed many thousands believe the world will end December 21, 2012; a scenario depicted in the film “2012.” Zach, in response to a question from Pastor Jim, replied that if he were attempting to get a message from God to the people today, he would primarily utilize movies to accomplish that task. Pastor Jim went on to explain that motion picture producers and cable TV channels are putting out more on what’s in the book of Revelation than most churches are.
America, he warned, continues in rebellion as evidenced by the fact that graduating students are not even allowed to say the name “Jesus Christ” in a public school prayer. This, despite America being the only country, other than ancient Israel, founded on Godly principles. Pastor Jim again referenced “The Harbinger” and how it explains that George Washington was sworn in as President in 1789 where “Ground Zero” lies today. There in New York where, 212 years later, the tragic events of 9/11 took place. Washington’s first act was to say a prayer to God, an irony, considering such would be illegal today.
Pastor Jim voiced his agreement with Rabbi Cahn that 9/11 was God’s wake up call to the nation and that the destruction of the World Trade Center towers signaled chaos for the world’s economy. He again urged that 2012 is a year to prepare, organize and get ready to face the many troubles the Bible says are coming.
