Narrative
Pastor Jim began by discussing Bill Ballenger’s ministry and work in schools across the country. Bill shared that nearly 250,000 students have experienced one of his rallies where he and his staff address issues such as bullying, suicide and hope. He said school administrators welcome the ministry because Bill can say things they cannot say.
Lori and several media students gave accounts of their recent trip to Texas to attend the Master’s Commission International conference where thousands of young Christian students convened to learn and fellowship together. Pastor Jim noted that more than 40 signed up to find out more about becoming students at Morningside. He explained that he and Lori, while in the state, also visited the headquarters of the Kenneth Copeland Ministry and stopped in to see James Robison who, at the time, was featuring popular talk show host Glenn Beck on his program.
Pastor then went on to the next part in his series on the book of Revelation by focusing on what happens at the blowing of the second trumpet in chapter 8, verses eight and nine. The prophecy foretells the throwing of a large, fiery mountain into the sea that turns the water to blood and kills one-third of the marine life and destroys one-third of the ships. He said this may refer to a volcanic eruption of such magnitude that it moves the mountain out of its place and causes a tsunami. He then recalled that years ago he was shown that the Canary Islands would be a site for such a disaster.
He cited news stories that told of how recent low level earthquakes near the volcano, and the first eruption there since 1971, have raised concerns over what will happen should a stronger quake and eruption take place. Scientists predict that the resulting tsunami would greatly disrupt the Atlantic Ocean and potentially wipe out all of the East Coast, including major cities like New York, Boston, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Miami and Havana.
Pastor Jim believes only a matter of time separates this prediction from turning into reality and he declared that his mission lies in getting people ready for such end of the age happenings. He said many believers in California and Florida will survive the catastrophic earthquakes that will hit those areas, which lie on fault lines, and will lead many to Christ with the good news that Jesus returns at the sound of the seventh trumpet. Even though the time of tribulation represents a period of “coming apart” for the world, Pastor Jim said the time of harvest occurs at the same time. This means that, even though the book of Revelation seems full of negativity, positive messages and hope are in the book, as well.
