It’ll Be Alright

Narrative

Pastor Jim and Lori Bakker, with co-host Kevin Shorey, focused on the battle surrounding the building of Lori’s House, a facility planned to welcome young women with untimely pregnancies and offer a safe place for delivery of their babies as an alternative to abortion. Pastor Jim shared that his heart breaks over the opposition. Particularly because abortion, in God’s eyes, equals murder, and the intent of the house revolved around saving children and standing for the value of all life. He asked supporters to pray for the house and added that he never dreamed anybody would resist its presence in the area

After months of preparation and spending nearly $500,000, 15 people succeeded in getting an injunction against the ministry to stop any further progress. Pastor Jim noted that support beams were already on the land and ready for placement, however, the day building of the actual house was to start, the order came down to cease all work. The primary reason the protesters complained related to their fear that the home would bring violence to the area coming from the husbands or boyfriends of women at the home who might be against the ladies going forward with pregnancy. There also were fears that the home’s presence in the community would cause an increase in taxes. The group even approached the head of the company who cleared and paved the road to the site of Lori’s House, wanting him to add his name to the petition against the home. Pastor Jim said the man refused to go along with the plan.

The Bakkers hold a great love for lambs, the innocent animals so often referred to in scripture, and have several love gift offers available for those who want to contribute towards the effort to save “Lori’s Little Lambs.” These offers, Pastor Jim explained, will help the ministry move ahead with construction of the home at another site.

Even though the setback upset Pastor Jim and Lori, they firmly believe God has control of the situation and will work all things out for His glory. Pastor Jim said he often gains encouragement by listening to an old recording his daughter, Tammy Sue, made as a teenager when she sang “Everything’s Gonna Be All Right.” He encouraged the continued prayers, support and donations of fellow Christians to help secure victory. “Let’s give the devil a black eye.”

John 21:14-16 NCV This was now the third time Jesus showed himself to his followers after he was raised from the dead. I Peter 1:18-19 NCV You know that in the past you were living in a worthless way, a way passed down from the people who lived before you. But you were saved from that useless life. Isaiah 53:3-7 KJV He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Proverbs 1:33 NCV But those who listen to me will live in safety and be at peace, without fear of injury.”
