This is a special time of the year when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Meaningful sermons and musical presentations were widespread in many churches. Weeks and weeks of rehearsal were dedicated to these special events. I pray that many were touched by the truth of Christ’s resurrection.
Ask yourself, “What does the resurrection of Jesus Christ mean to me? How does Christ’s resurrection affect my life today in this crazy world?”
Recently this discussion came up during our intercessory prayer time here at the ministry. As each prayer partner shared what Christ’s resurrection meant to them individually, all of us were encouraged and uplifted.
Here are some of the responses:
“Without the resurrection I would not be saved.”
“It means everything to me because Jesus is my all in all.”
“The resurrection gives me hope of a better future.”
“It means that I can have eternal life and live with God forever.”
“When I think of resurrection, we are resurrected with Him and sit in Heavenly places with Him.”
“The empty tomb is a promise to us of a new life in Him, here and now, and in the future.”
“I am so thankful that Jesus died for me and that He rose again. We serve a Living Christ. I am so thankful that I know Him! I am in Him and He is in me!”
Pastor Snellenberger, who is on our Prayer Team and is Associate Pastor of Morningside Church says, “Resurrection is the whole theme of the Gospel. That’s why all other religions don’t work because Jesus is the only one that was raised from the dead. Revelation means NEW LIFE, NEW UNDERSTANDING, NEW REVELATION, NEW TRUTHS.”
Jesus came to restore man back to God and He loved us all the way to Calvary. By living a sinless life all the demands of the law were fulfilled. Jesus qualified to be the pure Lamb of God and was willing to be crucified. He gave His life for you and me.
Then on the third day Jesus shed the grave clothes and came out of the borrowed tomb! Now He is seated at the right hand of His Father in Heaven. Father God accepted Jesus as the holy sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. What a wonderful Lord!
What does all of this mean to you and me as we go about our daily activities? What is the significance of resurrection to you? The resurrection of Christ means our sins are forgiven, our faith is not in vain and when we die we will not perish but have everlasting life.
I Corinthians 15:17– 22 “And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”
Scripture tells us that as a Christian the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us. Glory!!
Romans 8:11 – “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” KJV
Take time during this season to meditate and thank the Lord for His great sacrifice. Even though the day we celebrate Christ’s resurrection occurs once a year, keep the meaning of it close to your heart year round. Continue to thank and praise the Lord for His wonderful salvation plan.
