Where Do You Get YOUR Gospel?

There are many people that do not even want to hear the Book of Revelation.  They call ministers who preach on the prophetic events of the Bible, “prophets of doom” disregarding the fact that it is plainly written in the Bible and we’re seeing it in the daily news today!  So many in the church today are not allowing themselves to see what is happening right in front of their eyes.

Matthew 16:2-3 tells us, “When it is evening, ye say, “It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.”  “And in the morning,  It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering.  O ye hypocrites ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times.”

Luke 21:27-28 tells us,  “There will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars…Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

Middle Class American Families are No Longer the Majority

The Pew Research Center released a new analysis on Wednesday, reporting that low-income and high-income Americans combined now outnumber the Middle class. The report also said that Middle class Americans are “falling behind financially.”

According to CNBC, the report states that at the beginning of 2015, 120.8 million adults lived in middle-income homes while 121.3 million Americans lived in lower and upper income households. The study classifies middle class Americans as adults earning two-thirds to double the national median which is approximately somewhere between $42,000 and $126,000 a year for a three-person family.

The shift of the economic classes has been developing over the past few decades. According to the Huffington Post, the report states that low income American citizens have increased from 25% to 29% since 1971. Within that same time period, the upper class has risen from 14% to 21%. Meanwhile, the middle class has decreased from 61% to around 50%.

The Pew Research Center’s analysis also claimed that middle income Americans were making less money. The average income of middle class households fell by 4% between 2000 and 2014 and median wealth fell by 28% between 2001 and 2013.

This shift “could signal a tipping point,” according to the report.

More Americans are now starting to make more money and join the upper class, which the study notes as “economic progress.” However, the study warns that the upper class can make more money at a faster pace than the middle and lower classes, which can widen the gap between the different classes.

Crimea in State of Emergency after Explosion Knocks Out Power for 1.6 Million People

The Russian-annexed nation of Crimea is under a state of emergency after four electricity transmission towers located in Ukraine were damaged by bombs in two different attacks. Approximately 1.6 million people are without power.

At this time, officials are unclear on who attacked the pylons, but Russian authorities stated it was “an act of terrorism,” according to Voice of America News. And while Russian officials didn’t directly place blame, they implied Ukrainian nationalists may have been behind the attacks. The attacked pylons are located in Ukraine, where Crimea gets the majority of its electricity supplies.

The attacks were a couple days apart with two of the pylons being hit on Friday and the next two being hit Sunday. The Washington Post reports that more than a quarter of the population, mostly in major cities, had their power restored through the use of mobile gas turbine generators by Sunday afternoon. However, there are still many without power, and the Crimean government said it would come up with a schedule for supplying electricity and water to homes without power.

But repairs were delayed when Ukrainian activists took the roads on Saturday and attempted to block the trucks from getting to the damaged towers. However, they retreated after clashes with the police, according to Voice of America News.

Crimea was annexed in 2014 by Russia after pro-Western Ukrainian protests forced President Viktor Yanukovych from office. Weeks later, a rebel group that wanted to separate from Russia, launched a large enough rebellion that trade and travel sanctions were placed on key Russian officials. Voice of America News reports that the U.N. announced in September that nearly 8,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the conflict.

For the First Time in Four Decades, More Mexican Immigrants Leave U.S. Than Enter

The Pew Research Center reported Thursday that more Mexican immigrants are crossing the border to leave the U.S. rather than enter it.

USA Today states that an estimated 870,000 Mexican immigrants entered the United States from 2009 to 2014, but 1 million returned to Mexico, including American-born children. The reasons for the historic shift include reuniting with family, the Great Recession in the United States that made looking for a job extremely difficult, tighter border security, and the fact that Mexico’s economy is improving, according to Mark Hugo Lopez, the director of Hispanic research at the center.

Deportation also has a hand in these statistics, but only 14% of the 1 million were deported.

And while a lot of Mexican immigrants reportedly stated that family was the main reason for leaving, Dowell Myers, a public policy professor at the University of Southern California, told CBS News that the lack of jobs in the United States is the main reason for Mexican immigrants to leave, not family.

“It’s not like all of a sudden they decided they missed their mothers,” Myers said. “The fact is, our recovery from the Great Recession has been miserable. It’s been miserable for everyone.”

While the recover for the U.S. economy has been sluggish, Mexico has thrived over the recent years compared to the tailspins it saw in the 1980’s and 90’s. Inflation is manageable, the peso is stable, and the northern half of the country has boomed with manufacturing centers thanks to the North American Free Trade Agreement. The manufacturing plants produce cars, heavy equipment, and airplanes.

In another twist, CBS News reports that Border Patrol arrested more non-Mexicans than Mexicans in 2014 due to more Central Americans fleeing violence in their countries and seeking asylum in the United States.

Cyber War Between Hacktivist Group “Anonymous” and ISIS Escalates

As world powers such as Russia, France, and recently China begin to ramp up the fight against ISIS on the ground, the hacktivist group “Anonymous” has escalated their fight against the terrorist organization via cyber war.

Earlier this week, Anonymous posted a video on YouTube declaring war on ISIS. Since then, CBS News reports that they have been responsible for taking down more than 3,800 ISIS-linked Twitter accounts. Their latest video, released on Wednesday, stated that they have taken down more than 20,000 accounts and even offered a link to the list of Twitter accounts that have been taken offline.

Despite their success taking down ISIS related Twitter accounts, the group has escalated their tactics. They have now issued a guideline for hacking ISIS, and indicated they would be spamming ISIS related Twitter accounts that aren’t immediately taken down, according to NBC News.

As a response to the recent threat, ISIS had issued a set of basic rules for protecting themselves against Anonymous hackers. The measures were sent via an encrypted chat app called Telegram using the alias “Khilafah News.” The International Centre for the Study of Radicalization (ICSR) was the organization that spotted the messages, and the channel ISIS was using has since been shut down.

“O’ brothers of tawheed,” the message starts (tawheed in Islam refers to the oneness of God), “The #Anonymous hackers threatened in new video release that they will carry out a major hack operation on the Islamic State (idiots)… So U should follow the instructions below to avoid being hacked.” The instructions include frequently changing IP addresses, not communicating with people they don’t know on Twitter or Telegram, and not using the same name for emails and Twitter usernames.

And while Anonymous is taking the fight to ISIS, experts say that they are doing little to hurt the terrorist organization.

“They’re not going to be able to disrupt operations or coordination within the ISIS network,” said Denise Zheng, deputy director and senior fellow for the Strategic Technologies Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies told CBS News. “It’s much more of an annoyance, really, I think, to them, than anything else.”

As mentioned above, China has recently stepped into the fight against ISIS after the terrorist group recently released an article in their magazine stating that they executed Chinese national Fan Jinghui. China has vowed to bring ISIS to justice. Jinghui is the first known Chinese national to be killed by the Islamic State, according to CNN.

U.S. House Approves Syrian Refugee Screening Bill Despite Veto Threat by Obama

Reuters reports that the U.S. House of Representatives voted on a new bill on Thursday that would suspend President Obama’s plan to admit 10,000 Syrian refugees into the United States within the next year and intensify the screening process.

The bill was quickly drafted this week after the terrible attacks in Paris by the Islamic State that led to the deaths of 129 people. The vote was approved 289 to 137 with 47 Democrats voting for the bill, according to Fox News.

As previously reported on our website, the issue of allowing Syrian refugees into our country has become a deeply controversial issue. While several government officials want to welcome refugees into our country to help them escape the evils of ISIS and civil war, other officials believe that ISIS could infiltrate the United States within the refugees. Their theory comes from the fact that one of the Paris attackers may have entered Europe with Syrian refugees.

Supporters for Obama’s plan to admit the 10,000 refugees also state that there is a “very, very small” chance of any of the refugees being a “terrorist.” Haaretz reports that the White House also believe the bill would place “unnecessary and impractical requirements” that would keep the U.S. from being able to help the refugees.

In a response, President Obama did tell Voice of America News that he would veto the bill if it passed the Senate.

“My expectation is, after the initial spasm of rhetoric, that people will settle down, take a look at the facts, and we’ll be able to proceed,” Obama said while attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Manila.
