We recently celebrated my 57th Birthday and as with most of our life events, we celebrated on the show with family and friends, and our extended family and friends which means all of you! It was a wonderful day as my amazing husband, children, and family along with my mentor and friend, Lloyd Zeigler, recalled the moments of my life that brought me full-circle to where I am right now. It’s truly been a fairytale story, with all of the tragedy and triumphs that make for a good television drama – except it was all very real. The life and times of Lori Graham Bakker could have been a great soap opera, if it were a fiction. But my life was not fiction. It was real – and God has given me “beauty for ashes” as it says in Isaiah 61. READ MORE
Shocking Decline in Morality
Most everyone knows that I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s, the era of “free love” which was a nice-sounding euphemism for rampant sexual immorality. “Make love, not war” was a corny saying, but it produced a radical culture of “peace keeping” hippies who advocated nothing more than “drugs, sex and rock ‘n roll.” Everyone wanted to go along to get along, and anyone who brought attention to any of the moral “standards” that most of us grew up with was frowned upon. We were known as the “anti-establishment,” “anti-war,” “anti-government,” and anti-justabouteverything generation. We were the “counter culture” generation, and the new way was considered “revolutionary.”
We wanted to be “free” – whatever that meant. We wanted freedom from our parent’s rules (read: safeguards) and we wanted to be free of the oppression of the laws of the land which included prohibition of illegal drugs. We didn’t want anyone telling us about sin either. We grew up with that, and wanted to do our own thing without anybody judging us. We wanted freedom from any religious boundaries whatsoever. Little did we know that immorality had its own paybacks in loss of family life, children’s well-being, our own health and a host of other physical and psychological troubles that led to the decay of a once prosperous society based on Judeo-Christian principles. Lori’s House Update
I am so excited about Lori’s House! We are approaching the time when we can finally open it and welcome our first girls in! We’re not quite there yet, but it’s soon… very soon. We have the right people in place now, and we are moving rapidly to finish the building and create a safe place where ministry, love, rest, learning, fellowship and caring will take place with its main goal of saving babies and caring for their mothers.
There will be no charge to a young woman who wants to live at Lori’s House through her pregnancy. The ministry, through generous donations, will provide assistance for food, clothing and medical care. Education and job training will be provided and an individual program will be tailored depending on each girl’s special needs.
Through it all, she will be comfortable, safe and “at home.” READ MORE
Hope and Expectancy
I know so many of God’s people who are weary. I don’t mean to sound down, because I’m not, but I have been – and you have been too. It’s not possible to live in this world at this time without feeling the effects of some of its pressures. Everywhere we look, everywhere we turn, there is evil all around us and it wears on us. And, if we don’t watch out, we can be overtaken by the sheer force of it.
Not only are we dealing with the effects of the world’s woes, but most of us are dealing with an unusual effort to bring us down in one way or another – be it finances, relationships, our health, our families, or any number of other life crises. READ MORE
Prepping is Not Beyond Your Reach
We have heard from quite a few people who are concerned about how to prepare when their finances are very tight. Prepping can seem like it’s beyond your reach, but don’t give up; where there’s a will there’s a way! Jim and I understand this very well and we’re not insensitive to the plight of those who are challenged by a limited income.
Anyone who has read my book, “More Than I Could Ever Ask” knows that there was a time when I actually shined shoes at the airport to make ends meet and to provide for myself when I was in full-time ministry in Phoenix. People may say, “oh you poor thing,” but I’m not looking for sympathy and I didn’t feel disadvantaged even then. I was so in love with Jesus and happy to do whatever it took to provide for my needs and stay in ministry. READ MORE
Caught in the Closet
Private moments made public – they happen a lot in large families, and it helps to keep a sense of humor when it does! One such moment happened recently when I was going about my daily business with routine household tasks, thinking the house was empty. I was meditating on the Lord and all that He has called Jim and me to do, and I guess I was talking to myself when I heard a voice from the other room:
“Mom, who are you talking to?
“Mom, is there somebody in there with you?” READ MORE
Deep Wells Coming Forth!
I knew in the beginning of this year and I had an urgency in my spirit that I had to get my body prepared for the difficult days ahead. I knew that the physical body had to get well and be strong to live through these final days to help others because this is the “Harvest Time.”
Heaven forbid that the “Harvest Time” becomes a cliché to God’s people.
God chose me, and He chose you to occupy this earth and to work the harvest fields in the very last days and hours before the end of this age. We are not here by happenstance. That’s a hard thing for most people to realize and completely comprehend – and what’s even harder is to grab a hold of the very thing God ordained for you to do before the foundations of the world in this season! Loving God – Loving Each Other
Things are really happening fast in our world and we find ourselves racing toward the Second Coming of Jesus at lightning speeds. People are really looking for a “now” word and they often look to us. That’s why I want to say that there is no more important word than the one the follows: The Church must come together as a family who love each other and pray and support each other because things are going to get real crazy, very soon.
There are many people who know Jim and me because we are public figures, and more and more of them are becoming closer to us as we experience the signs of Revelation. I have had people write in and tell us that we are their “family” and I have to tell you, that really touches my heart and we feel the same way. READ MORE
Everything You Know to Do, You Need to Do
Whatever we are going to do for Christ, NOW is the time to do it. Israel is God’s Time Clock and the alarm is telling us we are seeing earth-shaking events. The news is filled with reports of rocket barrages into and out of Israel.
Israel is surrounded by her enemies, just as the Bible says that they would be in the Last Days.
The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. Luke 19:43 NIV READ MORE
My Amazing Glorious Ride
After you walk through some hardship, you’re almost a different person. You can then say to those who are going through the same thing, “Boy, I understand what you’re going through!” You have so much more empathy for people that are going through hard times, like those who have cancer who have to endure treatments… their radiation and chemotherapy.
But it’s in the journey; we are walking through this journey called life. We are living in the most amazing time ever in the history of mankind. I mean He chose you, He chose me, He chose Kevin, Zach, Tammy Sue, Sasha, Mondo, and all of us – our whole team here… and He chose you to do something for the Kingdom of God. READ MORE
