British Prime Minster To Give Citizens Vote On EU

British Prime Minster David Cameron told reporters today that if he is given another term in the 2015 election that he will create a referendum that will allow residents to vote whether to remain in the European Union.

Opponents of the move, while saying the UK’s membership needs to be renegotiated, said that leaving the decision up to the public was a “gamble” and against the national interest. Continue reading

World Unemployment Could Hit Records in 2013

The International Labor Organization has released its annual report that states worldwide unemployment could hit record levels this year and could continue rising until 2017.

The current record is from 2009 when 198 million were unemployed. The ILO projects that by the end of 2013 there will be 202 million with a rise of 5.1 million from current levels. The report predicts 205 million unemployed by 2014. Continue reading

Tens of Thousands Flee Flooding In Mozambique

With rivers already above crisis levels, Mozambique government officials are evacuating tens of thousands from the Gaza region in the southern part of the country. Over 55,000 people are expected to be removed from their homes.

The central and southern parts of the country have been placed on red alert because of the flooding. The country experienced 7 inches of rain in a 24 hour period on Monday. Continue reading
