Abortion Boat Blocked in Morocco

Moroccan authorities at the port of Smir have blocked the “Abortion Boat” from being able to dock in their country. The entire harbor was blocked by authorities to keep the boat from docking.

Moroccan health ministry officials said on Wednesday they would prohibit the ship from operating within the nation’s waters. They have also called on the government to enforce the nation’s laws against abortion on anyone connected to the boat. Continue reading

Nigerian Student Massacre Raises Questions

Police sources in Mubi, Nigeria are claiming that an attack that killed at least 26 people at a college hostel was connected to a student union election. However other sources are pointing out that Christians appear to have been targeted by men dressed as soldiers believed to be connected to the Islamic terror group Boko Haram.

Men in military uniforms entered a resident hall outside the main campus of Federal Polytechnic Mubi around midnight Monday. They gathered students outside their rooms, called out some by name who were then executed and the bodies lined up outside the building. Continue reading

“Abortion Boat” Heads To First Muslim Country

A Dutch organization is taking a boat to Morocco with the intention of allowing Muslim women within the nation to have abortions.

“Women on Waves” has been operating the boat for the past 11 years visiting nations where abortions are illegal like Ireland, Poland, Portugal and Spain. The organization takes women on the boat into international waters, performs the abortion and then returns them to land. Continue reading

Columbia Dodges Bullet In Large Earthquake

The most significant earthquake to strike Columbia since 2004 was deep enough underground to avoid causing catastrophic damage according to the US Geological Survey reports. The 7.3 quake centered at an underground depth of 94 miles.

The quake reportedly shook the ground for a full minute and was felt in most of the country. There were reports of shaking in Quito, Equador almost 200 miles from the quake’s epicenter near Popayan. Continue reading

Islamist Militant Kills Children In Kenyan Church

One child was killed and many others wounded when a man connected to Somalian Islamic group Al-Shabab threw a grenade into a church’s children’s Sunday School area in Kenya’s capital of Nairobi.

The man was allegedly angry about African Union forces that included Kenyan army taking the Somalian port of Kismayo from the al-Shabab organization.

A mob later attacked Somalians living near the church leaving 13 injured. Continue reading

Eurozone Unemployment Hits Another High

Unemployment in the Eurozone has risen to 18.2 million after releasing economic data for August. The rate of unemployment remained the same after the rate for July was revised upward at 11.4%, however there was an increase of 34,000 out of work in the month.

The highest unemployment rate for an individual nation was Spain where one out of four eligible workers are unemployed. Austria had a rate of 4.5%. The rate in Germany, the Eurozone’s most stable economy, was 5.5%. Continue reading

Aleppo’s Biggest Tourist Area Destroyed By Troops

A fire swept through the ancient markets in Aleppo after government troops set them on fire through shelling and gunfire. The souk, which had been considered a “World Heritage Site” by the United Nations, started burning on Friday and the fire continued to rage through Saturday.

“It’s a big loss and a tragedy that the old city has now been affected,” Kishore Rao of the United Nation’s Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization told the Associated Press. Continue reading
