Three British Muslims have been sentenced to prison for their parts in planning terrorist attacks near the time of the London Olympic Games.
Richard Dart, a Muslim convert, was sentenced to six years. Imran Mahmood received a 9 year, 9 month sentence and Jahangir Alom will spend four and a half years behind bars. All three men pled guilty in March to charges related to their plot. Continue reading →
Over 12,000 UN troops will be stationed in Mali beginning in July after a resolution received unanimous approval from the UN Security Council.
The force will include over 6,000 West African soldiers already serving in Mali. The French, who proposed the resolution, will now leave 1,000 troops in the country to fight al-Qaeda related terrorist groups. Taiwan reported its first confirmed case of the virus Wednesday. A 53-year-old man is in critical condition at a hospital according to the Centers for Disease Control. The man had been working in China and returned to Taiwan via Shanghai. Continue reading →
On the same day that a World Health Organization official announced the H7N9 strain of bird flu is “one of the most lethal”, other statements are indicating the organization is not as sure of their previous view the virus does not transmit between humans.

The head of anti-terrorism in the European Union is sounding concern regarding the number of Europeans fighting with extremists in Syria.
