Stargazers Forecast for Comet Pan-STARRS

Star gazers should prepare to potentially see Comet Pan-STARRS this week.

The Pan-STARRS comet, officially known as C/2012 L4 made its debut in the night time sky on March 7, 2013.

Although the comet was at its brightest on March 10 when it was closest to the sun, the comet will be close to the crescent moon Tuesday and Wednesday night. This could provide astronomers and star gazers the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the comet.

Southern California earthquake largest in greater L.A. since 2010

The magnitude-4.7 earthquake that rattled Southern California on Monday was the largest centered in the greater Los Angeles area since 2010, officials said.

“It’s been three years since we had anything this size this close to Los Angeles,” said Susan Hough, a seismologist with the U.S. Geological Survey. She cited a magnitude-5.4 quake that struck the desert area in July 2010. Continue reading

Islamic Terrorists In Nigeria Ask For Amnesty

The Islamic terror group Boko Haram, who as recently as last week killed Nigerian police officials in terror bombings, has offered a cease fire to the government of Nigeria in return for amnesty. The group says that the amnesty could “help end violence” in northern Nigeria.

However, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan said that the government will not give amnesty to a group that continues to hide its leaders and members. Continue reading
