Peace! Peace!

Carol Gonterman

“Lord we pray for Divine appointments, open doors of opportunity and Father-ordained encounters to help build your church.”

This is a prayer that has been prayed by my husband, myself, our kids and friends, people who don’t know the Lord, and those who do.

My husband, Gary, and I have been serving the Lord for the past 40 years. We have prayed this prayer innumerable times in many situations. We don’t know how or when the answer will come, but we know God is faithful. He will come through for us, and has!

As we listen and study the Word, our faith increases. I believe that we need to know the Word so that we can mix our faith with it. Without knowing and practicing the Word of God, you may try to solve your problems using your own abilities and human solutions. As a result everything falls apart! You become more miserable and finally resolve to hand your problems back to God. When this happens remember 1 Peter 5:7 will help you. Say, “Now I am casting all my cares on Him; all my problems, anxieties and worries. Take them all Lord….Thank you.”

Then sometimes you can relax for a few minutes and have inner peace, then suddenly you think of another troubling issue. Oh no! And now you spend your time passing problems back and forth in your mind. Then you become frustrated and unhappy again. Your joy is zapped! Your peace is gone.

The Lord cares for you through it all, but the “rest” He intends for you will not be yours unless you entrust your problems to Him. Leave them with Him in His loving, caring hands. Rest and believe His Word. There is a place of inner peace, power and impact; a restful place of blessing and power in the middle of all the adversities of life.

God wants every believer to trust Him. As a believer in Jesus Christ you have trusted Him for the big thing, SALVATION, Ephesians 2: 8-9. Now, trust Him for the little things — your daily needs. Romans 8: 31-32. He will supply your needs now that you are His child. With God, there are no hopeless situations. There is hope for everyone. When we read the Word of God and mix it with faith we can stabilize our lives and resolve every problem, sorrow, failure and disappointment.

Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” NAS

Read 1 Thessalonians 5:18 — “In everything give thanks for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” By faith you can claim this promise and other ones like it.

Trust Him! Don’t allow doubt! Believe God’s Word!

PEACE! PEACE! God’s peace.
