UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon told the Security Council on Tuesday that the Taliban might be willing to talk with the UN about minimizing causalities in Afghanistan.

The attack infiltrated a sleeping quarters in the compound where the 17 men were killed while they slept. The Islamists reportedly poisoned the men before shooting them. Two U.S. soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan by a man dressed in an Afghan police uniform. The forces attached to NATO were shot in Khas Uruzgan, about 250 miles from the capital of Kabul.
