Taliban Homicide Bomber Attacks Funeral

A homicide bomber attacked a funeral in eastern Afghanistan killing at least 25 civilians and the son of a district governor.

The mourners were attending a funeral for an influential tribal elder in the border district of Dur Baba. The homicide bomber infiltrated the parade of mourners before detonating his device.

Taliban Insurgents Murder Civilians For Attending Party

Two women and 15 men were found murdered along the side of a road in the Kajaki district of Afghanistan murdered by Taliban insurgents. All the victims were either beheaded or had their throats slashed. Most showed evidence of beatings and some had shotgun wounds.

Local officials confirmed the Taliban murdered the civilians.

“[They were] partying with music in an area under the control of the Taliban,” Helmand provincial governor’s spokesman told AFP news agency. The Taliban disapprove of men and women mixing in social environments. Continue reading

Terrorists Kill Dozens In Afghanistan

A series of bombings targeting Muslims preparing for the end of Ramadan have killed at least 42 and wounded 130.

The attacks struck at opposite ends of the country and were clearly aimed at civilians.

Four homicide bombers killed 30 in the market areas of the city of Zaranj. Intelligence officials in Zaranj told the BBC that they have arrested several other homicide bombers and said as many at 14 may be in the city. Death Totals Still Unknown In Afghanistan Earthquake

The numbers of deaths are expected to rise as more reports come in from areas in Afghanistan devastated by a pair of weekend earthquakes. The 5.4 and 5.7 quakes were located a few miles apart and struck within a minute of each other on Monday morning. Landslides buried or destroyed at least 20 village homes.

Three deaths have been confirmed but others are feared to have been buried in the landslides. Continue reading
