Over 900 Students Commit To Christ At RUSH Event

Over 900 youths are now spending eternity with Christ after the RUSH event in Meansville, Georgia.

RUSH, which stands for Reaching Unchurched Students for Him, hosted the conference featuring speaker Sadie Robertson from Duck Dynasty & Dancing With The Stars along with music from Christian rapper Lecrae.

Up to 7,000 people attended the event with 925 accepting Christ according to staffers.

“The nature of [the] event, whether it be concerts, celebrities, games, or other things that we do, are all aimed at getting those kids in the community, or in the world if you will, not in the church necessarily, but to get the church friends to bring the students that may never walk into a church,” RUSH Ministries’ co-founder Marc Pritchett explained to The Christian Post.

2015 is the 11th year that Thomaston, Georgia based RUSH Ministries has hosted events.

“They realize not only is being a Christian fun, not only is it cool, but also, eternal hope is sandwiched within all that stuff,” said Pritchett. “I think that’s probably the reason why we see so many kids come to Christ rather than at a Christian festival — we reach them first, if that makes sense. Then we present the Gospel. They let their guard down a little bit, and when the Gospel is preached, it does what it does. No one can take credit for that except certainly Jesus. We speak that out and it goes out and is received.”

“I Stand Sunday” Aimed To Show Support For Houston Pastors

Pastors across America are expressing their solidarity with pastors in the Houston area who are being harassed by the city government with “I Stand Sunday.”

The event will feature former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention and members of the Duck Dynasty family.  The event is aimed to raise awareness of government attempts to intimidate Christians into silence.

“This is not about speeches, not about sermons, not about teachings even on biblical morality…it is about intimidation,” said Perkins. “This is about political intimidation and it is about the mayor using the bully pulpit to try and silence the pulpits of Houston.”

The pastors being harassed by the city had spoken out about the city’s new law that would allow situations such as men using women’s bathrooms.

“I Stand Sunday” will be held November 2nd at Grace Church in Houston and broadcast nationwide.

“Hosted by Family Research Council and other partners, speakers from across the nation will gather at Grace Community Church in Houston to focus on the freedom to live out our faith free of government intrusion or monitoring,” reads the I Stand Sunday website.  “We will stand with pastors and churches in Houston who have been unduly intimidated by the city’s mayor in demanding they hand over private church communication.”

Christian Movie “God’s Not Dead” Shocks Hollywood Observers

An independent Christian film shocked Hollywood observers over the weekend when it debuted in the top 5 for earnings despite being shown in less than 1,000 theaters.

God’s Not Dead, a low-budget production that shows a college student accepting an atheist professor’s challenge to provide a defense for the existence of God, was shown on only 780 screens last weekend but earned $9.2 million in the first three days to finish in 4th place according to the Hollywood news site deadline.com.

That put the movie just ahead of the film 300: Rise of an Empire, which earned $8.5 million on the weekend on 3,085 screens.

The film is the 7th all-time grossing Christian film on its opening weekend, ahead of Fireproof’s $6.8 million.

The movie had a boost from appearances by Willie and Korie Roberston of Duck Dynasty who said their participation in the film strengthened their faith in Christ.

The film’s distributor is attempting to put the movie into more theaters this coming weekend.

Korie Robertson: Don’t Let Bullies Stop You From Sharing Christ

One of the stars of the hit reality show “Duck Dynasty” who appears in the upcoming Christian film “God’s Not Dead” is speaking out for Christians to stand up against the bullies who are trying to silence them.

“Don’t let someone bully you into not standing up for your beliefs,” Robertson said on Fox News’ “Faith & Fame.”

Robertson commented that with the success of their show, they have had to deal with thousands of angry people who have been trying to keep them from sharing their faith in Christ on the show.  They have even had to stand up to the network that airs them, A&E, demanding they leave in the show segments where they pray, read Scripture or talk about their faith in Jesus.

“God and our faith is what sustains us,” Robertson said. “It’s what makes our life good.”

Robertson and her husband Willie have said their participation in the new movie “God’s Not Dead” has really strengthened their faith.  They play themselves defending their faith to a reporter questioning Christianity.  The movie follows a student who accepts a professor’s challenge to prove the existence of God.

Why I Like Duck Dynasty

The phenomenon of the success of Duck Dynasty has taken this country by storm. I am a huge fan of the show and I’ll tell you why. These people are Godly people with a sense of humor! They live their lives according to the principles of God’s Word and yet they are so down to earth and real! That’s my kind of people.

The Duck Dynasty folks appeal to young and old alike. Young people like this show because, let’s face it, they can smell a phony a mile away and they run the other way. Look at how they’ve all run out of our churches…. just sayin’. Continue reading →
