France Increases Troop Strength In Mali Conflict

France has increased its troop strength in Mali as they have officially joined the ground war against Islamic terrorists attempting to overthrow the Malian government.

“The actions of French forces, be it air forces or ground forces, are ongoing,” France’s Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told reporters. The troops are working beside Malian military forces in the town of Diabaly, about 200 miles north of the Malian capital. Continue reading

Islamist Militants Occupy Algerian Gas Facility; Take Hostages

A gas facility in Algeria has been attacked and overrun by Islamic terrorists who killed a British man and have taken other foreign workers hostage.

French, British, Norwegian, Japanese and American citizens are part of the hostages being held by the apparently al-Qaeda related group. An al-Qaeda spokesman claiming to represent the group said the terror organization planned the attack. Continue reading

U.S. Army To Send Troops To Africa

The U.S. Army will be sending small groups of soldiers into as many as 35 African nations starting early next year.  The mission of the troops will be to train and equip African troops to fight Islamic extremists on the continent.

However, the troops will also prepare for full-scale U.S. intervention in the region should a situation arise that requires increased military presence. Continue reading
