First Grade Student Told She Can’t Mention Jesus

A first grade student at Helen Hunt-Jackson Elementary School in Temecula, California was told by her teacher that she can’t say the name of Jesus in her classroom.

Brynn Williams’ teacher interrupted her during a one-minute speech on her family’s Christmas traditions, telling the 6-year-old that she can’t “talk about the Bible in school.”

Brynn had brought the Star of Bethlehem that her family places at the top of their Christmas tree for her report.  Her family told Fox News that she had written and practiced her one-minute presentation to say her family’s tradition was to remember the birth of Jesus at Christmas.

“Our Christmas tradition is to put a star on top of our tree,” Brynn said in her report. “The star is named the Star of Bethlehem. The three kings followed the star to find baby Jesus, the Savior of the world.”

The teacher then stopped her saying “Stop right there!  Go take your seat!”  Brynn was the only student not allowed to complete her assigned report.

Brynn’s parents say the little girl was upset because she believed she had done something wrong and was in trouble.  The school’s principle told the parents that she could not do the report because she might offend another student by saying the name of Jesus.

The school district gave Fox News the following statement:

“The Temecula Valley Unified School District respects all students’ rights under the Constitution and takes very seriously any allegation of discrimination. Due to the fact that District officials are currently investigating the allegations, it would be inappropriate to provide further comment at this time.”

Jesus Named Most Significant Person In History In Wikipedia Study

A study analyzing Wikipedia data to determine who has been the most significant person in history has said Jesus tops the list.

Two computer scientists used quantitative analysis of the data on Wikipedia to create the list that they said is similar to how Google ranks web pages in its search engine.

“We would call Jesus ‘The most significant person ever,’” Professor Steven Skiena said. “With over 2 billion followers a full 2,000 years after his death, Jesus is an incredibly successful historical meme.”

The scientists did add that the ratings could change over time because of the continuing evolving nature of Wikipedia. They noted many people in the lower parts of their list will likely have more significant movement through time.

Ranked behind Jesus in the list was Napoleon Bonaparte and William Shakespeare.

Jesus is the Bridge

The Bible says that if we say we are without sin, we are fooling ourselves and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8, Romans 3:10, James 3:2).  There have been times in my life that I needed great grace and even now, today, I am an imperfect man.  I have sinned – I am a sinner – no doubt about it.

This grace I need has a name – and his name is Jesus.  Jesus is the bridge that connects us, even though we are sinners, to our Father God.  It took two pieces of wood and three nails to build this bridge.  It’s a holy bridge – one of supreme sacrifice for our sins.

I need Jesus – and I need His Grace on a daily basis.  I remember a time when I thought I had sinned so badly that even Jesus had left me.  But in my darkest hours, He assured me that He would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER leave me nor forsake me (Hebrews 13:5).  I am His, and He is mine – and nothing will ever change that fact.

Yet, I am mystified that there are other Christians who want to blow up this bridge of forgiveness and reconciliation to our Father – a bridge that they themselves or maybe someone very close to them may need to cross over sometime in their lives.

There are people who want to condemn others who have sinned, and think themselves better off because their particular sin is not the one they are condemning.  Most often, when the perspective changes to yourself or others you love, the bridge will be in tact.

As soon as pride lifts its head, especially in the area of who and what the Blood of Jesus will or will not cover, you can be sure that Grace will much more abound (Romans 5:20).

Don’t blow up a bridge that you, yourself, or your loved one may need to cross at some point in their lives.  Others have crossed over this bridge, and it is on the road to their salvation.

If we need one thing in the End Times, it’s Grace and Love.  And we ALL need the Bridge by which we can be forgiven – Jesus.

Love,
