Roger McDuff, Lifts his Voice in Heaven Now

Roger and Barbara McDuff

by Kami Klein

Gospel Singer Roger McDuff has now joined his beautiful wife Barbara in lifting his voice in that magnificent choir in heaven.  We were so sorry to hear that Roger passed away on March 2nd after an extended illness. Our prayers are with his family and friends as they say goodbye to an amazing man of God!

Roger graced the stage at PTL so many times, joyfully praising God and filling hearts with his unique and moving tenor voice.  Among his many accomplishments, he was a part of the McDuff Brothers, The Stamps Quartet and was featured on several Gaither Homecoming Videos.

Norma McCorvey, from Roe to Pro Life, a journey of restoration

Norma McCorvey, the anonymous plaintiff known as Jane Roe in the Supreme Court's landmark 1973 Roe vs. Wade ruling legalizing abortion in the United States, testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee along with Sandra Cano of Atlanta, Georgia, the "Doe" in the Doe v. Bolton Supreme Court case, on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, U.S. on June 23, 2005.

By Kami Klein

Norma McCorvey has been known over the past 4 decades as the anonymous plaintiff  Roe, in the deeply controversial Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade.  The year was 1973 when the highest Court held that a woman’s right to an abortion fell within the right to privacy protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. The decision gave a woman a right to abortion during the entirety of the pregnancy and defined different levels of state interest for regulating abortion in the second and third trimesters. From that moment to now, over 59,115,995 children have been aborted in the United States.

The journey of Norma McCorvey ended with her death on February 18th, 2017 but the divide between Pro-Choice and Pro-Life has moved no closer to resolution.  The rights of the unborn were not even a part of the lawsuit when the Supreme Court agreed to hear the case and the pro-life movement has been attempting to have those voices heard ever since.

Norma, interestingly enough, never had an abortion.  She never attended a single trial nor did she give a deposition.  She signed documents only once after failing to get an illegal abortion in which she actually went to term with the child later giving the baby up for adoption. In later years, she described herself as a “pawn” in the fight to legalize abortion.

McCorvey came forth about her part in Roe v. Wade when court documents were released, and she became the poster child of the pro-choice movement, working for abortion clinics and protesting against the pro-life message.  Her life had been battered from the beginning, but it was only when she became a Christian that she understood the full and tragic impact of Roe v. Wade.

In her book, Won By Love, she wrote:

“I was sitting in O.R.’s offices when I noticed a fetal development poster. The progression was so obvious, the eyes were so sweet. It hurt my heart, just looking at them. I ran outside and finally, it dawned on me. ‘Norma’, I said to myself, ‘They’re right’. I had worked with pregnant women for years. I had been through three pregnancies and deliveries myself. I should have known. Yet something in that poster made me lose my breath. I kept seeing the picture of that tiny, 10-week-old embryo , and I said to myself, that’s a baby! It’s as if blinders just fell off my eyes and I suddenly understood the truth—that’s a baby!

I felt crushed under the truth of this realization. I had to face up to the awful reality. Abortion wasn’t about ‘products of conception’. It wasn’t about ‘missed periods’. It was about children being killed in their mother’s wombs. All those years I was wrong. Signing that affidavit, I was wrong. Working in an abortion clinic, I was wrong. No more of this first trimester, second trimester, third trimester stuff. Abortion—at any point—was wrong. It was so clear. Painfully clear.

Charisma magazine has written a powerful testimony of Norma’s path to God in the article, Norma McCorvey’s First Church Experience as a Believer where not only did Norma experience the love and forgiveness of Jesus, she also experienced the love and forgiveness of the body of Christ—the church.

Join Jim and Lori Bakker on The Jim Bakker Show beginning March 3rd as the Bakkers welcome Rabbi Jonathan Cahn and Mikel French to the show where they will be discussing the inauguration, the future of Roe v. Wade and the inspirational story of Lori Bakker’s God-destined meeting with Norma and the time they spent together.

Norma’s life has been told from every angle.  She had been called names from all sides and struggled daily to discover for herself who she was. It was through Christ that she finally discovered the truth.

Norma McCorvey was and IS, simply and wonderfully, a child of God.

Donald J. Trump sworn in as President and the Bakkers are there!

Jim and Lori Bakker in Washington DC for the Presidential Inaugural events

By Kami Klein

As Donald J. Trump was sworn in and became the 45th President of the United States all of Morningside paused or at the very least, continued to work while peaking at the television, taking in the events. It has been a long road to get here and on election night we watched together as the impossible became possible.  So many of our guests on The Jim Bakker Show had prophesied a Trump Presidency.  This election was so important. After all, we have experienced our values and Christian faith attacked time and again over the last years. But God’s hand guided this election and we are watching the miracle come to fruition.

We are here, in our offices, listening to our new President tell us not to fear because “We are protected by God”.  When that was spoken the cheers could be heard echoing across the building.  It is such a relief to hear the leader of our country acknowledge God’s role here in the  United States of America!

Pastor Jim and Lori are there, live and in person, at the inauguration. Much to their surprise, they were invited to attend.  After great discussion, Pastor Jim decided that this was something that was very important and that he and Lori should participate. You, our viewers and supporters of this ministry worked incredibly hard during this election.  You prayed with Pastor, you listened to the facts that the entire staff worked diligently to collect. You heard the teachers and prophets and you not only went out and voted, you encouraged others to do so!  When President Elect Trump called Pastor a few weeks after the election, he called to thank YOU!  It was for this reason that the Bakkers decided it was important to represent all of us as our country looks to a new hope in leadership.

Jim And Lori Bakker at the Capitol Building in Washington D.C.

Yesterday, Pastor Jim and Lori attended the Washington, DC Prayer Service, hosted by Jim Garlow.  There, they prayed for our nation, for our Congress, and for our President.  Many of those who led prayer are friends of our ministry; Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, Alveda King, Marcus Lamb and David Barton were among many who prayed with the attendees.

This morning Jim and Lori attended the Presidential Inauguration Prayer Breakfast at the Trump Hotel in Washington D.C..  This breakfast was incredibly special as Rabbi Jonathan Cahn was asked to speak.  His calm, loving presence always stirs the Holy Spirit.  Thousands of Christian leaders are in Washington D.C. to anoint the path that our new President will walk with praise to our Lord.

Tonight Jim and Lori will be attending one of the three inaugural Balls to celebrate!  We know this will be a remarkable experience and we are so eager to hear all about this amazing time in history seen from their perspective!

Sharing in many of these events has been Dr. Lance Wallnau who is scheduled to appear next week, Wednesday, January 25th on Grace Street at Morningside.  We look forward to hearing all about the inaugural events and the coming together of Christian leadership as President Trump took office.  We hope you can join us, but if you are unable to be here for taping please look for these inspirational shows on your local station very soon!

Please continue to join us in prayer for our new President!  God Bless America!

William Branham, Jim Bakker, Prophets of Yesterday and Today

By Kami Klein

Prophets have been a unique part of humankind for thousands of years.  Discerning the prophetic word takes faith, but the true value of a prophet and his or her visions are only if they stand the tests of time.

Pastor Jim Bakker has been prophesying for over fifty years.  He was willing to listen to God’s words and be obedient enough to step out on faith and say YES! Many of his prophecies have stood the test of time. His warning only weeks before the Boston Marathon attack and predictions regarding 9/11, as well as many others, are well documented.  Sometimes God repeats His message, mirroring another prophet with a reminder of what to expect with additional warnings, but many times we do not see the full meaning of the prophecy until time has passed.

There have been many prophets of God in whom the Lord has trusted.  In an article called YEAR IN REVIEW: William Branham’s 7 Prophetic Visions That Came to Pass, written for Charisma magazine, Pastor Bakker speaks of William Branham who had seven very distinct prophecies in 1933.

We would be remiss if we did not include the word that Pastor Bakker received for his New Year’s message last year as 2016 began.  His message was vast and included many of the prophecies of William Branham but in his main message he said:

“God spoke to me last night in an unusual way. One of the things He said to me was, ‘It’s time to batten down the hatches’. Why would HE say ‘Batten down the Hatches’? When a storm is coming, ships batten down the hatches. God is telling us to get ready for the storm!”

Perhaps we were expecting a storm of a different kind, maybe it wasn’t a natural disaster we were to look for at all.  Maybe the storm in which we were to “Batten down the Hatches” was actually a tumultuous political storm from a deeply emotional election year.  This monster storm raged for months, tearing apart friends, family and neighbors. Perhaps this is what God was warning us about. This fight to the end between Liberals and Conservatives was about as predictable as a hurricane. All we really know for sure is that in most Christian’s minds and hearts, God had His hand on the outcome of this election.

Some feel that Pastor Jim’s prophecy has yet to be played out, but when God wants to communicate on broad terms to His children, sometimes we just have to take it at face value and be ready, be warned, be prepared and “Batten down the hatches” for whatever will come next.

All prophecy comes from faith.  Our God will continue to use his prophets throughout the world.  “Believe in the Lord your God and you will be supported.  Believe His Prophets, and you will succeed.”

Be sure to tune in to the Jim Bakker Show on January 1st, 2017 for Pastor Jim’s prophetic word for the New Year!  Be sure to click here to read the Charisma article about the year in review and William Branham!

How will you respond when the pain comes? ~ Steve Strang

Jim and Lori Bakker and Steve Strang, founder of Charisma magazine

By Steve Strang

Pain is a part of life. The infilling of the Holy Spirit helps us deal with pain but is no guarantee Christians will be immune to our share of it. The question is not whether you will experience pain, but how you will respond when the pain comes.

It’s been said the heat that melts the butter hardens the clay. Too many Christians, I’ve observed in my six decades on Earth, melt at the slightest problem. They’ve been led to believe following Christ means a life of joy and fulfillment. That’s absolutely true, but the way that message has been preached, at least in America, has left some with an unhealthy expectation that the Lord only allows smooth sailing in our lives.

On top of this, an overemphasis on the so-called prosperity gospel based on a mistranslation of 1 John 3 that God wants you to prosper has caused many a shipwreck for Christians who bought into it without understanding being a Christian is more than living like you won the lottery.

Jim Bakker should know. He told me he got off base partly because of an overemphasis on the prosperity gospel. And he has experienced far more pain in his life than almost anyone I know. In this month’s cover story of Charisma magazine, I tell how Jim Bakker lost everything—his ministry, his reputation and his wife, and even his home burned to the ground. In addition, he lost his freedom and was in prison for almost five years. Despite it all, he has come back—in some ways stronger than ever.

Sometimes I will write an editorial about our cover story in Charisma. You can click here to read the digital version of that issue about Bakker, who I have covered since before the infamous “fall” in 1987. Here I share my own thoughts and conclusions on his life and I ask how you’ll respond when the inevitable crises in life cause you to despair.

You may never experience the depth of what Jim Bakker experienced. But all of us will experience loss, whether it’s the loss of a dream or a job or one’s health. Maybe it will be the loss of a marriage. And even if it’s not the loss of any other of these things, each of us will experience the loss of a loved one because no one can escape the inevitability of death.

We can all learn valuable life lessons from how Jim Bakker fell and how the Lord raised him up in this hour:

If Jim Bakker was haughty before the fall, he is humble today. What happened to him was unjust in my opinion. Maybe he couldn’t help being humiliated as he lost everything as the world press covered every twist and turn. Read how low he was when he came out of prison. Yet I’ve known others who were humiliated by lesser “scandals,” and they tried to justify themselves and remained prideful. Whatever your pain is, embrace humility and ask God what He is trying to teach you.

Learn something new. While Jim was in prison cleaning toilets, he took time to get a doctorate degree by correspondence. But more than that, he did an in-depth study of the words of Jesus and also the book of Revelation. It was unplanned and unwanted, but it was like a five-year sabbatical, and he took advantage of every moment to study Scripture. So if you are bedridden due to your health or out of work, what creative way can you spend the time learning something new or growing spiritually?

Realize the Lord may be preparing you for something you can’t anticipate. Most of us don’t change unless we go through a difficult time. If this is happening to you, realize God has a bigger plan and allow your trial to shape your character. In Jim Bakker’s case, it was becoming an expert on end times so he could help ready the body of Christ for whatever difficulties may be ahead. If PTL had continued to go and grow, would he have learned that? No. But look at the people he has been able to help. What is the equivalent of this in your life?

Finally, never give up. As long as there’s life, there’s hope. Nothing will continue as it is now—either very good or very bad. So you may feel overwhelmed, but that doesn’t mean the sun won’t rise tomorrow. Meanwhile, remember the words of Winston Churchill: “Never give up.”

One of the things I admire about Jim Bakker is that he didn’t give up. Instead, he started over, built a great organization and a great legacy, and served as an example for us all.

You can read my article on Jim and the entire November issue of Charisma by clicking here for the digital edition.

A few months ago, I interviewed Jim while I was on a visit to Morningside. I made it into a podcast which had the most downloads up to that time. Plus, I wrote about it in my newsletter which you can read here if you missed it. Take time to listen to the podcast again and to share it with others.

Revelation On Grace Street With Rabbi Cahn!

Rabbi Jonathan CahnIt was a morning of sheer ‘Revelation’ on Grace Street at Morningside as Rabbi Jonathan Cahn shared what the Lord has been doing in his life since the book “The Harbinger” was launched on the Jim Bakker Show on January 2, 2012, Pastor Jim’s birthday. “The Harbinger” remains on the New York Times bestseller list for the 28th week in a row and has now sold over 600,000 copies!

After catching up on current life events, the Rabbi and Pastor Jim began to share about the world situation and how despite all of the warnings the Lord is so graciously giving to this country, we continue to arrogantly defy Him and refuse to repent of our sins. The Rabbi said that America has more to answer to God for than any other nation (except Israel) because it was founded on Godly principles – the same principles that it now has turned its back on.
