Syrian government forces in northwest Syria have killed thirteen members of the same family, almost all women and children. Some reports from activists groups in the region say some of the victims were burned alive.

Activists report that 60 bodies have been found just outside of Damascus burned beyond recognition with their hands bound behind their back. The bodies were discovered in a trash dump outside Qatana, a Damascus suburb.

Syrian government forces have killed over 100 in the latest massacre related to the civil war situation in the country. The attack in the central Homs province is still sketchy on information as the government has tried to quell reports of the mass killing.
The Observatory for Human Rights reports that sources have confirmed over 100 people killed but only 30 have been positively identified. Activists now say government forces have killed over 17,000 people since the start of the uprising against Syrian President Bashir Assad. Continue reading →
UN observers and at least one BBC reporter have found evidence of a massacre in the Syrian city of Qubair. Reports of the massacre leaked out from various rebel sources but government troops had been blocking access by the UN to the town.

Mission commander Robert Mood said the Syrian army is stopping UN staff at checkpoints and turning them back before reaching the city of Qubair. The United Nations is reporting that on the heels of the Houla massacre observers have found 13 shooting victims apparently executed outside the city of Deir al-Zour.

Following the government slaughter of 49 children and 34 women in Houla, Syria, several Western nations have announced they are expelling Syrian diplomats. The United States, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Canada, Italy and Australia have announced they were ordering Syrian diplomats to leave their countries.

At least 47 children were among the 108 murdered by Syrian government troops in the town of Houla. Witnesses told the BBC that the killings were carried out by the Syrian army and civilian militia working with the troops.
“They had no mercy,” opposition activist Hamza Omar told the BBC. “Children, under 10 years, their hands tied and shot at close range. By knife they cut their neck, not exactly all his neck, but they make a hole in the neck, a hole in his eyes.” Continue reading →
