Al-Qaeda Kidnaps French Engineer In Nigeria

Boko Haram, the Nigerian branch of Al-Qaeda, has escalated their attacks by abducting a French engineer in their first kidnapping of a foreign national according to French President Francois Hollande.

Boko Haram has been terrorizing northern Nigeria in an attempt to force extreme Sharia Law on the nation.  The group has connections to Al-Qaeda terror cells in neighboring Niger and Mali which routinely have abducted foreign nationals. Continue reading

Nigerian Student Massacre Raises Questions

Police sources in Mubi, Nigeria are claiming that an attack that killed at least 26 people at a college hostel was connected to a student union election. However other sources are pointing out that Christians appear to have been targeted by men dressed as soldiers believed to be connected to the Islamic terror group Boko Haram.

Men in military uniforms entered a resident hall outside the main campus of Federal Polytechnic Mubi around midnight Monday. They gathered students outside their rooms, called out some by name who were then executed and the bodies lined up outside the building. Continue reading

Top Militant Killed In Nigeria

The BBC is reporting that the spokesman for the Al-Qaeda related terrorist group Boko Haram has been killed by Nigerian military forces.

A military spokesman told the BBC that two militants had been taken into custody by military forces and that one of the two men had later died while in custody. Boko Haram is refusing to confirm that their spokesman, Abu Qaqa, is the man who died while in government custody. Continue reading

Al-Qaeda Group Targets Nigerian Telephone System

Al-Qaeda affiliated group Boko Haram is targeting the mobile telephone system in Nigeria claiming that the system is being used by the government to track their members.

Assaults on all 24 destroyed towers were accompanied with armed assaults on villagers and local police. Attacks happened throughout the country from the port city of Lagos in the south, Potiskum in the north and the capital city of Abuja. The damage is estimated in the millions of dollars. Nigerian Floods Kill 33

The death toll from heavy flooding in central Nigeria has killed at least 33 people. The flooding has not only destroyed homes and villages but has washed out roads and bridges compromising rescue efforts.

The flooding which has covered six districts has impacted over 12,000 people. Officials are warning that more flooding is likely over the next few days.

Last month, 39 people were killed in flooding in a nearby region.

The coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency said hundreds of families are left homeless.

 

Nigerian Christians Killed In Church Attack

At least 19 Christians have been killed when gunmen stormed a church in Okene, Nigeria and opened fire during the middle of worship. The pastor was among those killed.

The terrorists used Kalashnikov assault rifles leading to government officials suspecting the militant Islamist group Boko Haram which has been responsible for the murders of other Christians inside Nigerian churches. Continue reading

Nigerian Floods Kill 39

Flooding in Nigeria’s Plateau state has killed 39 people after rainfall caused a breach in a dam near the city of Jos.

The Red Cross reports that over 200 homes were destroyed or submerged. Most of the destroyed homes were huts made from mud. Officials say that at least 35 more people are missing and they expect the death toll to rise. Continue reading
