North Dakota authorities are investigating the death of woman who was found in her home with an empty propane tank.
Debbie Dogskin’s body was discovered Tuesday morning at her Fort Yates home located on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
Temperatures on the reservation dropped to 1 degree below zero overnight according to Sioux County Sheriff Frank Landeis.
Autopsy results are expected today, but Landeis believes Dogskin “froze to death.”
Tribal officials have declared a state of emergency due to about 5,000 homes on the reservation are heated by propane. According to Tribal Chairman, Dave Archambault II, many residents are struggling to afford the more expensive fuel due to the high prices.
A judge ruled on Wednesday to block North Dakota’s law that would require doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at a local hospital.
“Certainly none of this comes as a surprise,” East Central District Judge Wickham Corwin said as he issued his injunction stopping the law from taking effect. Continue reading →

Rivers from North Dakota to St. Louis are being issued flood warnings after a series of heavy thunderstorms dumped significant rainfall across the upper Midwest Wednesday.
The National Weather Service said more than 5 inches of rain fell in many areas and it was likely to have more rain through the night Wednesday into Thursday. However, local officials in parts of North Dakota reported 8 inches of rain and Iowa officials reported up to 7 inches. Continue reading →

The North Dakota Senate has passed legislation that would make the state the hardest in the nation to get an abortion.
The bill, House Bill 1456, would ban abortion after the first sign of a fetal heartbeat which can be as early as five weeks into pregnancy. Recently obtained government documents reveal that drones have been customized to spy on American citizens including having the ability to intercept and record cell phone calls.
