Major Islamic Terrorist Leader Questioned in Somalia

Somalian intelligence officials confirmed that one of the leaders of the Islamic terrorist group Al-Shabab is in custody and is answering questions.

Officials took Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys to a government intelligence base after he either surrendered or defected to the government’s forces. Local officials say that he was fleeing in-fighting among the terrorist group that has caused significant fractures in the terror group’s command structure. Continue reading

Al-Shabab Leader Captured

A day after the United States announced financial bounties on Islamic terrorists in Africa, a leader of the Islamist terrorist group al-Shabab was captured in northeastern Somalia.

Abdikafi Mohamed Ali was wounded during a military raid on a terrorist safe house in Bossaso. One soldier was killed in the raid and the area has been locked down to capture the terrorists who were able to flee the home during the raid. Continue reading

UK Hosting Conference About Somalian Islamic Terrorists

MogadishbombingUK Prime Minister David Cameron will be hosting a conference aimed at bringing peace to Somalia and driving the Islamic terrorist group al-Shabab from the country.

The conference will focus on rebuilding the security forces, stopping violence against women and ending the Islamic insurgency that has plagued the country for years.  The insurgency and piracy connected to the Islamists contributed to the problems of a famine in Somalia from 2010-2012. Foreign Terrorists Identified In Sunday Terror Bombings In Somalia

Somalia’s Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon has told media outlets that the terrorists who carried out a bomb and gun attack on one of the city’s main courthouses were foreign terrorists.

The al-Qaeda linked Islamic terror group al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the assaults that have now resulted in the deaths of 29 people. 58 people have been confirmed wounded by the attack. Continue reading

President Obama Authorizes U.S. Military Support To Somalia

President Obama has removed restrictions that would allow the U.S. military to provide assistance to the Somalian government in their fight against Islamic terrorists who still control large parts of the rural center of the country.

The move now allows Secretary of State John Kerry the right to send troops into Somalia and provide weapons and other defensive aid. Continue reading
