“New Doctor Death” Loses Medical License

A man who has been called the “new Doctor Death” for following in the footsteps of Dr. Jack Kevorikian has been stripped of his medical license in Maryland.

Dr. Lawrence Egbert has been connected to the suicide deaths of six elderly Marylanders.

“It is undisputed that Dr. Egbert participated in six suicides in the state of Maryland as either a Senior Exit Guide or as a members only exit guide,” the Maryland Board of Physicians wrote in their revocation of Egbert’s license.

“Dr. Egbert reviewed their applications and medical records and recommended accepting them as members,” the board wrote. “Dr. Egbert attended their suicide rehearsals. He held each member’s hand and talked to him or her.”

Egbert, who law enforcement officials say is connected to over 300 deaths across the nation, is currently awaiting trial in Minnesota for helping residents there end their lives.  He had previously been arrested in Georgia but charges were not filed.

Egbert says he will appeal the decision and claims that assisted suicide is “in the Bible as legitimate.”

Assisted suicide is legal in Oregon, Washington, Montana, Vermont and New Mexico.

Auburn, New York Officials Targeting Church

Officials with a New York town are targeting a church for an outreach to their community.

A code enforcement officer for the city told First Presbyterian Church that a “glee camp” they hosted at a building they own.  A cease-and-desist order was issued in July saying that the church’s camp was a violation of zoning because they were operating a commercial action in a residential zone.

“Cease operating a summer glee camp @100/camper in a residential district. This is not an allowable use here,” the order said.

“I believe this action is a misguided and discriminatory act on the city’s part that not only harms the church’s ability to carry out its religious mission in the community, but also threatens a chilling effect upon other faith organizations similarly situated in residential areas throughout the city,” Pastor Eileen Winter said in a deposition.

The church charges $100 per camper but the money goes entirely to offset the church’s costs to put on the camp.  The church makes no money on the camp and some years even loses money.

Hiram Sasser of the Liberty Institute says that the city is in violation of the Religious Land Use Act.

Former Pastor Who Tried Atheism For Year Now Rejects God

A man who led a Seventh Day Adventist church until last March when he resigned and said he was going to “try atheism for a year” has announced he no longer believes in God.

“For the next 12 months I will live as if there is no God,” he explained. “I will not pray, read the Bible for inspiration, refer to God as the cause of things or hope that God might intervene and change my own or someone else’s circumstances.”

Ryan Bell was the leader of Hollywood Adventist Church until he was asked to resign by church leaders because of his opposition to Scripture on issues such as creation.

“Not being a pastor for nine months has given me the freedom to not have to believe in something for other people’s sake,” he explained to Religion News Service.

Bell now not only denies the existence of God, he is actively trying to undermine the Scriptures and truth of Christ by claiming it was just made up to fit the view of the leaders at the time.

“It’s probably been a decade since I was convinced about the virgin birth or the historicity of the birth narratives more generally,” Bell wrote. “In fact, Mark doesn’t even have a birth narrative, suggesting that it was invented later to tie the story together.”

OPEC Leader Vows To Not Cut Output

The de facto leader of OPEC has told the press production of oil will not be reduced even if the prices fall to $20 a barrel.

Ali al-Naimi, Saudi Arabia’s Oil Minister, is basically telling the world that the group is now focused on maintaining their market share in light of the U.S. shale oil boom.

“It is not in the interest of OPEC producers to cut their production, whatever the price is,” al-Naimi told the Middle East Economic Survey. “Whether it goes down to $20, $40, $50, $60, it is irrelevant.”

The most shocking comment from the man who is considered one of the most influential figures on the oil market was that the world may never see $100 a barrel oil again.

“We have entered a scary time for the oil market and for the next several years we are going to be dealing with a lot of volatility,” Jamie Webster, oil analyst with IHS Energy told the Financial Times. “Just about everything will be touched by this.”

Oil prices have tumbled almost 50 percent since June because of both a huge supply gain from U.S. shale output along with decreased demand in Europe and Asia.  The market dove more than a dollar after the comments from al-Naimi.

OPEC had been well known for cutting production when oil prices fall in an attempt to keep up profit margins.  When the U.S. was in the midst of recession in 2008, OPEC cut production to raise prices to make it harder on the U.S. during the economic downturn.

Teen Girls In Slenderman Attack Deemed Competent For Trial

Two teenage girls who attempted to kill a third teen girl as a tribute to the fictional character “Slenderman” have been found competent to stand trial.

A spokeswoman for the Waukesha County Circuit Court told CNN that Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier will face trial on charges of attempted murder.  The two girls stabbed a classmate 19 times in May and left her body in the woods as a “sacrifice” to the “Slenderman.”

All three were 12 years old at the time of the attack.  The victim was able to crawl out of the woods where a cyclist noticed her laying along the road.  She spent weeks in the hospital in critical condition.

One of the accused girls told police that Slenderman is the leader of the “Creepypasta” website and the only way for someone to “reach his realm” is to kill someone.

The two girls are being tried as adults and their first preliminary hearing is set for February 18.

FBI Confirms North Korea Behind Hacker Attack on Sony

The FBI announced Friday that North Korea was definitively behind the cyberattack against Sony that released movies, damaging e-mails and other personal information about employees and celebrities.

“The FBI now has enough information to conclude that the North Korean government is responsible for these actions,” the FBI said in a statement on Friday.  “[There is] significant overlap between the infrastructure used in this attack and other malicious cyber activity the U.S. government has previously linked directly to North Korea.”

The investigators say that North Korea’s intentions were to clearly harm not only Sony but the rights of Americans.

“We are deeply concerned about the destructive nature of this attack on a private sector entity and the ordinary citizens who worked there,” the FBI said in its statement. “Further, North Korea’s attack on SPE reaffirms that cyber threats pose one of the gravest national security dangers to the United States. Though the FBI has seen a wide variety and increasing number of cyber intrusions, the destructive nature of this attack, coupled with its coercive nature, sets it apart.”

Former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton told Fox News that unless the United States responds strongly to this attack, it will be open season on the U.S. from hackers in other countries.

“I think it is correct to treat it as a national security threat because it really could have been in a serious place,” Bolton said. “If we can conclude it was North Korea, we need to put them back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, we need to put all the economic sanctions back in place.  If you treat this simply as an inconvenience, other countries will conclude that they can attack and get away with it.”

China Testing ICBM With Multiple Warheads

China has carried out a test of a long range missile that is capable of delivering multiple independent nuclear warheads.

The test of the DF-41 missile marks the longest range intercontinental ballistic missile in China’s arsenal.  It’s also the first missile in China’s fleet that is capable of delivering multiple warheads.

The development means that China will likely have a rapid, significant increase in the total number of large warheads available for missile launch.  The defense department estimates that China currently has around 240 very large warheads.

China had announced the likely power of the DF-41 in a report earlier this month.

“The DF-41, which could be deployed as early as 2015, may carry up to 10 MIRVs, and have a maximum range as far as 7,456 miles, allowing it to target the entire continental United States,” the report said. “In addition, some sources claim China has modified the DF–5 and the DF–31A to be able to carry MIRVs.”

Defense department officials say that China’s new missile would require the United States to upgrade its current ballistic missile defense systems.

The Final Countdown

Our recent trip to Israel and New York City with Rabbi Jonathan Cahn to visit the Harbinger sites was truly one of the highlights of my life and a high point in the life of this ministry. Rabbi Cahn presented some amazing teaching in the Holy Land as well as undeniable facts about the history of our nation, how it was birthed, and now, sadly, its inevitable decline. Continue reading

Anti-Christianists Force Nativity Scene To Be Moved

A group of anti-Christianists have forced the removal of a nativity scene that had been placed in front of a North Carolina courthouse for over 40 years.

The virulent anti-Christian organization Freedom From Religion Foundation, which is not located in Dallas, North Carolina, complained that because the nativity was on government property the town owned it.

The nativity scene was moved to a local auto shop amid complaints from residents that the out of town anti-Christianists shouldn’t be forcing the community to go against their values and standards.

The Christian-hating organization also complained about a nativity scene in Jay, Florida.  The city declared it “surplus property” and sold it so a private group could display it.

“The majority of the folks have been very supportive in understanding that there is a reason we moved it from City Hall to downtown. Actually, now that it’s downtown, it is more visible to the public than it was right here at city hall,” Jay Mayor Kurvin Qualls said, according to WEAR-TV.

The city estimated the costs to fight the anti-Christian group in court would be around $100,000.

Kentucky Government Bows To Anti-Christianist Wishes

The government of Kentucky has bowed to the demands of anti-Christianists who have been smearing the proposed Noah’s Ark theme park in the northern part of the state.

The state has withdrawn $18 million in tax incentives after multiple anti-Christian groups and organizations harassed legislators and officials claiming the park will promote religion in violation of the mythical separation of church and state.

Ken Ham’s Answers in Genesis who is funding the $172.5 million dollar park is now considering a lawsuit against the state to challenge the decision.  The preliminary approval for the state tax-incentive program would have allowed them to keep 25 percent of state sales tax collected at the park for 10 years.

It could have meant more than $18 million that could be used to develop the park.

“State tourism tax incentives cannot be used to fund religious indoctrination or otherwise be used to advance religion,” Tourism Secretary Bob Stewart noted in the letter saying the state will now deny the funds. “The use of state incentives in this way violates the separation of church and state provisions of the Constitution and is therefore impermissible.”

The state is demanding Answers in Genesis not allow only Christians to be hired for the park.

“If you insist on the newly imposed condition … it will amount to unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination and my client will have no choice but to seek redress in federal court,” AiG attorney James Parsons wrote to the state.
