“Death Row Jesus” Campaign Starts Today

The man behind the controversial “Jesus Tattoo” movement is launching a new campaign that he feels will likely be equally controversial to the mainstream church.

“Death Row Jesus” will present Jesus as a death-row inmate.  The campaign will be featured on digital video advertisements in major cities across the U.S.

“When people think about Jesus, they don’t think about him being on death row, but if you think about what he did when he was on earth, that’s really the experience he had,” David Miller told NBC Lubbock.  “We communicate very directly that Christ became the worst criminal in history when he took our mistakes on himself. The second message is we are all equally undeserving of God’s grace.”

The video shows Christ in an orange prison jumpsuit being beaten and then as he’s being crucified the other prisoners in the jail are being set free.

Miller says the campaign is funded by the sale of merchandise from his previous “Jesus Tattoo” outreach.  Miller says that all he does in selling merchandise is not to turn a profit for him but to expand the reach of the message.

“Corporations spend an enormous amount of money marketing whatever their product is and there is nothing wrong with that,” said Miller. “We just think in this case we have a much better product and one that’s everlasting, life-changing, and so it’s certainly worthy of whatever we invest in it.”

Anti-Semitic Teacher Loses Job Offer; Critics Cry Foul

A college professor who posted hate speech toward Israel on his Twitter account is now being backed by free speech advocates furious the hate speech cost him a job.

Steven Salaita, a Palestinian-American who had taught at Virginia Tech University, had been initially offered a tenured position in the American Indian Studies department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  After his hate filled tweets about Israel, the university rescinded the offer to him.

Some of Salaita’s anti-Semitic tweets stated:

“At this point, if Netanyahu appeared on TV with a necklace made from the teeth of Palestinian children, would anybody be surprised?”

“Zionists, take responsibility: if your dream of an ethnocratic Israel is worth the murder of children, just [profanity deleted] own it already.”

“You may be too refined to say it, but I’m not: I wish all the [profanity deleted] West Bank settlers would go missing.”

“Hamas” is the biggest red herring in American political discourse since Saddam’s “weapons of mass destruction.”

The moment Salaita revealed the offer to him was rescinded; outcry came from major media outlets and international activists.

Glenn Greenwald, who has been working with wanted fugitive Edward Snowden to release classified information, said “there were a lot of atrocious causalities from the Israeli attack on Gaza, but one of them was academic freedom at Univ. of Illinois.”

Inside Higher Ed author John Wilson said pro-Israel sentiment is on par with “Mazism, terrorism, racism, sexism and homophobia.”  Michael Hiltzik of the L.A. Times said it was “clear-cut infringement of academic freedom.”

The Huffington Post had a story saying that the “University of Illinois Repeals The First Amendment for Its Faculty.”

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman: ISIS Has Apocalyptic Vision

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is speaking out about the Islamic terrorist group ISIS and showing that the head of the military’s top advisors to the President see the group as a real threat.

“This is an organization that has an apocalyptic, end-of-days strategic vision and which will eventually have to be defeated,” Army General Martin Dempsey said.

Gen. Dempsey and Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel discussed the terrorist organization with a group of reporters.

“Can they be defeated without addressing that part of their organization which resides in Syria? The answer is no,” Gen. Dempsey said.  “That will have to be addressed on both sides of what is essentially at this point a nonexistent border and that will come when we have a coalition in the region that takes on the task of defeating ISIS over time.”

The “nonexistent border” referred to by the general was the parts of Iraq and Syria taken over by the terrorist entity.

Defense Secretary Hagel said the group is different that previous terrorist outfits.

“They marry ideology, a sophistication of strategic and tactical military prowess. They are tremendously well-funded,” Hagel said. “This is beyond anything that we’ve seen. So we must prepare for everything.”

Anti-Christianists Threaten To Sue Mississippi School

A virulent anti-Christian organization is threatening a Mississippi school district after a pastor delivered a prayer and sermon at a convocation for teachers this month.

The American Humanist Association sent a letter to the superintendent of the Jackson Public School District on Monday claiming they were representing an anonymous teacher who attended the event.  The AHA claims the teacher said attendance at the event was mandatory.

The speaker was Pastor Roy Maine, who works as an electrician in the district.  He was invited to deliver an opening prayer and he offered words of exhortation during his invocation.

The anti-Christian group says their anonymous client described the event as “one long church service.”

Attorney Monica Miller of the anti-Christian group said that if the school does not bar the use of religious speech at events they could file a lawsuit.

“This letter serves as an official notice of the unconstitutional activity and demands that the school district terminate this and any similar illegal activity immediately. To avoid legal action, we kindly ask that you notify us in writing within two weeks of receipt of this letter setting forth the steps you will take to rectify this constitutional infringement,” Miller wrote.

The school district acknowledged receiving the letter but did not offer a public response to the letter’s content.

Muslim Man Admits Murders Were For “Revenge On America”

A Muslim man has admitted committing multiple murders in two states because they were revenge against America.

Ali Muhamed Brown told police “My mission is vengeance for the lives, millions of lives [that] are lost every day,” Ali Muhamad Brown stated, according to reports. “Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan—all these places where innocent lives are being taken every single day … All these lives are taken every single day by America, by this government. So a life for a life.”

Brown is jailed in the Essex County Jail in Newark, New Jersey related to the killing of 19-year-old Brendan Tevlin on July 25th.  Brown walked up to Tevlin’s car at a stop light, gunned him down in the front seat and then moved the body into the backseat so he could drive the car to an apartment complex and abandon it.

Brown also committed three murders in Washington State before he moved to New Jersey.

Brown said he was doing “my small part” in the war against America by Islamic extremists.

American Ebola Victims Released From Hospital

The two American aid workers who had contracted the Ebola virus have been released from Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and declared to be virus free.

Dr. Kent Brantly was released Thursday and spoke at a press conference where it was revealed that Nancy Writebol had been released secretly on Tuesday.

In his statement to reporters, Dr. Brantly repeatedly stated the reason that he knows he is alive.

“God saved my life,” Dr. Brantly said.

He shared the moments he realized that something was wrong.

“On Wednesday, July 23, I woke up feeling under the weather and then my life took an unexpected turn as I was diagnosed with Ebola. As I lay in my bed in Liberia for nine days, getting sicker each day, I prayed God would help be more faithful in even in my illness, and that in my illness or even death he would glorified,” Brantly said.

Brantly ended his statement to the press by asking everyone to continue praying for the victims in West Africa and to contact our leaders to get them involved in the fight to stop the spread of the virus.

Anti-Christianists Threaten Christian Business Owners

A Christian owner of a pizza business is the latest believer to be targeted by the virulent anti-Christian group Freedom From Religion Foundation.

The Wisconsin-based group is threatening Steven Rose, owner of Bailey’s Pizza in Searcy, Arkansas.  The business offers what he calls an “old school country atmosphere” and on Sundays offers a 10% off if you bring in a church bulletin.

The anti-Christianists claim that making such an offer violates the 1964 Civil Rights Act which states “all persons shall be entitled to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, and privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, … without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin.”

The FFRF claims that they’re discriminating against people who aren’t Christians.

Rose says that the offer is just one of many other offers including discounts for police, fire departments or the Boy Scouts.  Rose also says the deal does not specifically state “for Christians” but that you need a bulletin.  He said that anyone can bring in a bulletin regardless of their beliefs.

ISIS To U.S.: We Will Drown You In Blood

The Islamic extremists who have taken over large parts of Iraq and Syria have posted a message online to America.

We will drown you in blood.

The Islamic State said Tuesday that it will attack Americans “in any place” because of the air strikes against their terrorist groups and that they would “drown” Americans in blood.  The message, which was in English, was accompanied by photographs of victims of snipers in Iraq and an American who was beheaded during the Iraq War.

The U.S. airstrikes on the terrorist group has allowed Kurdish forces to make gains in the last week.  On Monday the fighters were able to take back the country’s largest dam that provides power to most of Iraq.

The off-shoot group of Al-Qaeda, which was determine to be “too extreme” for the Al-Qaeda leadership, has so far focused on capturing land for their own Islamic state rather than launching western attacks.  However, the airstrikes from the U.S. is the first direct assault on the terrorists by a major western power.

NSA Planning New Cyber Defense System Called “MonsterMind”

The National Security Agency has a massive new program called “MonsterMind” that is aimed to be a main cyberweapon for the defense of America’s computer networks.

The revelation came from fugitive NSA leaker Edward Snowden in one of his first major public magazine interviews.

The interview, which will appear in the September issue of Wired magazine, has Snowden revealing that the program will not only capture all communications coming into the United States but that it could also mislead defense forces seeking out cybercriminals.

“You could have someone sitting in China, for example, making it appear that one of these attacks is originating in Russia,” Snowden said. “And then we end up shooting back at a Russian hospital. What happens next?”

Snowden said that what the NSA calls “analyzing traffic flows” means they’re spying on everyone.

“If we’re analyzing all traffic flows, that means we have to be intercepting all traffic flows,” he said. “That means violating the Fourth Amendment, seizing private communications without a warrant, without probable cause or even a suspicion of wrongdoing. For everyone, all the time.”

Wired magazine had traveled to Moscow for the interview that took place as Snowden was being given a three-year extension of his asylum.

The NSA would not respond to Snowden’s claims, telling Fox “”If Mr. Snowden wants to discuss his activities, that conversation should be held with the U.S. Department of Justice.  He needs to return to the United States to face the charges against him.”

Christian Mingle Movie: She Fakes It & Finds Him

A popular dating site for Christians doesn’t seem like it would be the best thing for a full-length feature film but actor/director Corbin Bernsen doesn’t agree.  He is making Christian Mingle the centerpiece of a film about faith, love and life.

The movie is about a woman in her 30s who has a great career and all the material perks of life but is unlucky in love.  Desperate to find a man, she signs up for Christian Mingle despite the fact she is not a Christian.

Along the way she finds love with a man…and realizes that she needs the true love that only comes from a relationship with Christ.

Bernsen said that despite the tie-in with the website, the movie is not a full-length commercial for Christian Mingle.

“They have been incredible partners and friends in allowing us to use their name and play an integral role in the film, but one of the first rumors I want you to help me dispel is that this is a commercial for them,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Bernsen has been focusing in recent years in directing and producing movies with a Christian message.

Christian Mingle, starring Christian actress Lacey Chabert, will be released in October.
