Christian College Sued By Rebellious Former Staff

Two former Bryan College professors who rebelled against the school by refusing to sign unaltered the Statement of Faith affirming Adam and Eve are now suing the school.

The contracts of Stephen Barnett and Steven DeGeorge are demanding they be given their jobs back along with the court declaring the school’s statement of faith be declared null and void.  The two former teacher claim that by affirming humans came from Adam and Eve and not via evolution the school’s board was modifying the school charter.

The school’s Board of Trustees said their statement that “we believe that all humanity is descended from Adam and Eve.  They are historical persons created by God in a special formative act, and not from previously existing life forms” is nothing more than clarification of the fourth item in the school’s Statement of Faith.

Students have joined several faculty members in opposing the school’s standing on the Scripture in deciding the origin of life.

New Book Challenges Myth Christians Divorce As Much As Non-Christians

A new study and book is challenging long-held myths that half of all marriages end in divorce and that the divorce rate in the church is the same or higher than outside the church.

The book outlines an eight-year study that shows despite summations and claims of media outlets, the divorce rate in America have never actually topped 50%.  The study shows that according to 2009 U.S. Census Data, the percentage of women still married to their first spouse on average is 71 percent across all age groups.  The number of those married to a second husband is 65 percent on average.

Researcher Shaunti Feldhahn says the total percentage of American women who have been divorced, including all marriages, is just 30.8%.

Feldhahn also notes that according to statistics, there are many women not married to their first spouse who lost a spouse to death and not divorce.  Many reports do not make the distinction between a re-married woman being divorced versus widowed.

The study also showed the highest rates of divorce were in the age groups over 35, contradicting a societal myth that young couples are quickly marrying and divorcing.  The largest percentage of divorces was in the 50 to 59 age group.

In the case of Christians, the study showed that couples who attend church on a regular basis have a significantly lower divorce rate than Christians who rarely attend church or non-Christians.  A joint study between Feldhahn and Barna showed the divorce rate of people who attended church the previous week was 27% and as much as 50% lower than people who do not attend church.

U.S. Senators Back 20 Week Abortion Ban

A group of U.S. Senators joined with pro-life activists in calling for a new law that would prohibit abortions after the 20th week of gestation.

The rally called for passage of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senator Lindsey Graham were among the dignitaries that called on Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to bring the bill to the floor for debate and a vote.

“This legislation, which according to five major national polls is supported by the majority of Americans, would protect babies and women from the horrific violence of abortion beyond 20 weeks,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List.

The 20-week abortion ban is in place in 13 states.

Pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood are vehemently against the bill even though they admit that 99% of the abortions in the U.S. happen before the 20th week.  They are also angry the bill would jail doctors for 5 years if they perform abortions after the 20th week.

“The Days Of Acceptable Christianity in America Are Over”

The chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom says the days of it being easy to be a Christian in America is over.

“The days of acceptable Christianity are over. The days of comfortable Catholicism are past. It’s no longer easy to be a faithful Christian, a good Catholic, a faithful witness to the truths of the Gospel,” Dr. Robert P. George said Tuesday.   “They threaten us with consequences if we refuse to call what is good, evil, and what is evil, good. They demand us to conform our thinking to their orthodoxy, or else say nothing at all.”

Dr. George, a Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton, made his address at the 10th Annual National Catholic Prayer Breakfast.  George said that while he meant his comments to be pointed at Catholics, they are equally as valid for all other Bible believing Christians.

“To be a witness to the Gospel today is to make oneself a marked man or woman. It is to expose oneself to scorn and reproach,” he said.  “To place in jeopardy one’s security, one’s personal aspirations and ambitions, the peace and tranquility one enjoys, one’s standing in polite society.”

“One may in consequence of one’s public witness, be discriminated against, denied education opportunities and the prestigious credentials they offer, one may lose valuable opportunities of employment or professional advancement, one may be excluded from worldly recognition.”

He reminded Christians that we are judged by God, not the world, and that we should reject those demanding Christians change their beliefs to stay on the “right side of history.”

Blizzards In Rockies; Tornadoes In Midwest

A surprisingly strong storm caused over 25 tornadoes to touch down in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Indiana according to local officials and the National Weather Service.

One twister that struck Sutton, Nebraska blew the roof off City Hall and completely destroyed at least one farm outside of the town.  Police Chief Tracey Landenberger said it was so dark that you couldn’t see anything.  Chief Landenberger suffered minor injuries by flying glass.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency after a tornado destroyed or damaged up to 300 homes in Orrick, Missouri, about 30 miles east of Kansas City.

The tornadoes had to share the weather news day with a freak winter storm in the Rocky Mountains.

The National Weather Service issued multiple Winter Storm Warnings and said at one point high winds and blowing snow forced the closure of 150 miles of Interstate 80 in Wyoming.

Meteorologists say the storm is so slow moving that parts of Denver could get an additional 9 inches of accumulation during the day Monday and that higher elevations could receive well over a foot of new precipitation.

Yahoo Pulls Pro-Life Ads From Abortion Clinic Searches

Yahoo has followed the lead of Google in making sure women who are considering abortion do not see pro-life options in advertising.

Anti-life groups like NARAL Pro-Choice America filed complaints with Yahoo because ads for pro-life organizations and crisis pregnancy centers would appear when women were searching for abortion clinics.   The anti-life groups want to make sure that women seeking an abortion find no other alternative to ending their baby’s life.

“We have found at least some of the ads to be out of compliance with our policies and we are taking them down,” a Yahoo spokesman told CNET. “We’re in the process of reviewing the other ads and will take similar action if any are found to not be in compliance with our policies.”

Anti-life advocates were overjoyed that the choice of giving babies the chance to live was being removed.

“We are pleased that Yahoo has confirmed that some of these deceptive crisis pregnancy center ads violate their advertising policies and stated that they will remove them so that women can continue to trust the search engine for accurate information,” NARAL president Ilyse Hogue said in a statement. “Women making this personal, medical decision should have comprehensive resources and accurate information. … We will work with Yahoo to pinpoint the ads that are masquerading as abortion clinics so they are promptly taken down when they appear.”

Boko Haram Releases Video Showing “Converted” Kidnapped Girls

Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram has released a video where they offer to release some of the girls they kidnapped in return for terrorists behind held in Nigerian prisons.

Terrorist leader Abubakar Shekau says in the 17-minute video that he will only release the girls that have not “submitted” to the terrorists, which from the video implies they have converted to Islam and are serving as slaves to the terrorists.

“The girls, these girls you occupy yourself with…we have indeed liberated them,” Shekau said.  “These girls have become Muslims.  We will never release them until after you release our brethren.  Here I mean those girls who have not submitted.”

The international search for the kidnapped girls is now increasing in speed as teams from the United States and Great Britain arrive in Nigeria.  The international effort is very diverse with countries as small as Israel sending in special forces units to help try to find and save the girls.

Court Rules Pledge of Allegiance “Not Religious”

The Massachusetts Supreme Court has ruled that those who have been challenging the Pledge of Allegiance on the basis that the phrase “under God” means the government is endorsing Christianity have no basis.

The Supreme Judicial Court said that the words “under God” reflect a patriotic practice and not a religious one.

“We hold that the recitation of the pledge, which is entirely voluntary, violates neither the Constitution nor the statute,” Chief Justice Roderick Ireland wrote, later adding “it is not a litmus test for defining who is or is not patriotic.  Although the words “under God” undeniably have a religious tinge, courts that have considered the history of the pledge and the presence of those words have consistently concluded that the pledge, notwithstanding its reference to God, is a fundamentally patriotic exercise, not a religious one.”

The lawsuit was brought by lawyers representing a pair of atheist adults who said their children were being illegally subjected to religion because of the phrase “under God.”

“We likewise reject the plaintiffs’ contention that, when some children choose to exercise their constitutionally protected right not to say the words “under God,” there is necessarily conveyed a message that the children are “unpatriotic.”” Justice Barbara Lenk wrote in Friday’s ruling.

NBA MVP Credits God With Transformation Of His Life

Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder said that he was only able to reach the levels he’s obtained in his career because of God.

“First off I’d like to thank God for changing my life [and] letting me really realize what life is all about. Basketball is just a platform in order for me to inspire people, and I realize that,” Durant said.

Durant spoke of his childhood growing up in suburbs of Washington, D.C. and that how it felt like they couldn’t get out because of the poverty and struggles faced by a single mother who gave birth to her first child at 18.

He spoke fondly if his mother who instilled a strong belief in God in her children.

“You made us believe, you kept us off the street, you put clothes on our backs, food on the table,” he said. “You went to sleep hungry. You sacrificed for us. You’re the real MVP.”

Gosnell Movie Fully Funded

The movie that pro-abortionists and Hollywood didn’t want you to do is going to be made.

The filmmakers behind the movie Gosnell: The Doctor Is Sin announced they have passed their $2.1 million funding goal on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo, meaning that the movie is a go.

The movie is now the most successful project to ever be funded on Indiegogo.

The filmmakers said the movie will contain an examination of the media’s blackout on the trial of America’s most notorious serial killer.  One of the filmmakers who attended one of the trial days says that only three journalists were in attendance, compared to dozens who attended trials such as Arizona murderer Jodi Arias.

Filmmakers admit the movie, which is planned as being a TV movie, might have a very hard time finding a network willing to run it because anti-life activists will want to try and make sure the public cannot see the reality of abortion.
