A remote-controlled car bomb exploded in Gaziantep, Turkey Monday night killing nine people including four children. Almost 70 were injured in the terrorist attack.
Turkish newspaper Sabah said the children were 13, 11, 3 and 1.
Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay blamed the terrorism group PKK who denied the attack claiming they do not attack civilians. However, after Monday’s bombing supporters of the group gathered to chant slogans and call for the release of the PKK’s jailed leader.
Since the PKK began its campaign against the government in 1984 they have killed over 40,000 civilians.
Gaziantep is located close to the border with Syria and is a destination of tens of thousands of Syrian refugees. Turkish authorities are on high alert fearing the Syrian conflict could cause unrest in southern Turkey.
