CDC Study Shows Over 110 Million Americans Have STI

Revelation 6:7,8 NCV When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!"8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse. Its rider was named death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill people by war, by starvation, by disease, and by the wild animals of the earth.

A new report by the Centers for Disease Control shows 13 times as many Americans contracted a sexually transmitted infection in 2008 than obtained a college bachelor’s degree.

The rate of new infections in 2008 was 19.7 million, bringing the nation’s total to 110,197,000 total infections. By contract, the number of Americans who obtained a bachelor’s degree that year was 1,524,092. In the 15-to-24 age range, the ratio of infections to degrees was 6 to 1.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in all the years that they have been tracking the nation’s totals of employment per year, there has never been a year more people found jobs than obtained a sexually transmitted infection in 2008.

Of the total, 20% of all infections were in the 15-to-24 year range with 50% of the new infections in that age demographic. The CDC estimates that cost to the economy related to the new infections at $16 billion.
