Syria Tries to Claim Israel Is Working With Al-Qaeda

Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).

Damascus BombingThe government of Syria is accusing Israel of working with a group that has called for the deaths of all Jews in a bombing raid against Syrian military targets.

The Syrian foreign ministry said that Israel was working with the al-Qaeda affiliated group al-Nusra.

“The flagrant Israeli attack on armed forces sites in Syria underlines the co-ordination between ‘Israel’, terrorist groups and the al-Nusra Front,” the statement said.  “This leaves no room for doubt that Israel is the beneficiary, the mover and sometimes executor of the terrorist acts which Syria is witnessing.”

Intelligence sources throughout the region said the first air strike was against shipments of weapons being sent to the Hezbollah terrorist group in Lebanon.

Syria claims that Israel made other attacks on military bases including the Jamraya research center.  However, rebels forces have said they are the ones who launched the mortar and rocket attack against the Jamraya complex which is a major chemical weapon facility.  The complex is also a key piece in the government’s rocket production machine.

The attack has opened some eyes in western defense agencies to the weakness in Syria’s air defense.

SenatorPatrickLeahy“The Russian-supplied air defense systems are not as good as said,” Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”  “Keep in mind the Israelis are using weapons supplied by us.  They have enormous prowess with those weapons.”

The success of the attacks could lead to western countries launching air strikes against Syrian military targets to assist the rebels in their fight against President Assad’s crumbling government.

The Syrian military, meanwhile, launched an attack on civilians in the western city of Bayda.  Over 100 civilians were killed as the military shelled residential areas, mostly women and children.
