Islamists Strengthen Hold On Egypt

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has appointed Muslim Brotherhood members to governorships throughout the country in an attempt to strengthen the Islamist’s hold on the country.

One of the men appointed is part of a terrorists group that killed 60 people during an attack in the tourist location of Luxor. Adel al-Khayat is a member f the political wing of that terrorist group and is also affiliated with Muslim Brotherhood. The group has since renounced their violent actions but has not been held to judicial account for it.

Muslim Brotherhood now controls 13 of Egypt’s 27 governorships.

Mass demonstrations against the Muslim Brotherhood’s attempts to extend their power is expected on the inauguration anniversary of Morsi.
