Russian Volcano Erupts For First Time In Over Three Decades
A Russian volcano dormant since 1975 has erupting and scientists are reporting that record amounts of lava are rushing from the mountain.
Over 1,200 metric tons of lava are rushing down the hillsides and ash clouds are rising nearly two miles into the sky. Lava has caused a forest fire and has destroyed two research bases on the mountain. Continue reading
Ratings Agency Gives Greece Shocking Upgrade
Standard and Poor’s has surprised economists by raising Greece’s credit rating six levels from “selective default” to “B-minus”.

Polio Eradication Drive In Pakistan Halted By The Taliban
A drive to eliminate polio in Pakistan has been stopped after the Taliban executed five women who had been administering the vaccine in Karachi.

Abortion proponents have seized upon the death of a 31-year-old woman after a miscarriage to bully Irish legislators into expanding abortion.

A car bomb exploded outside a market in the Khyber tribal area of Pakistan killing at least 17 people and wounding more than 70.

Bombing Campaign Kills 25 In Iraq
A bombing campaign carried out through a series of car and truck bombs roared through multiple towns and villages in northern Iraq with at least 25 confirmed dead.
The towns are in an area of the country in dispute between the Iraqi government and the Kurdish minority that lives in the region. The Kurds govern a region in the north that is considered autonomous. Continue reading
Cyclone Evan Kills Two in Samoa
Tropical Cyclone Evan roared into Samoa and American Samoa with maximum wind gusts of 130 m.p.h. leaving behind destruction and death.
At least two deaths have been reported in Samoa with hundreds missing. The death toll is expected to rise as the storm leaves and assessment of the damage and destruction begins en masse. Continue reading
