Alaska Volcano Eruption Disrupts Flights

Pavlof Volcano, after weeks of spewing ash and lava, erupted with a new intensity Tuesday launching cinders 5 miles into the sky.

The ash has covered the town of King Cove, 30 miles south of the volcano. The ash plume has not risen beyond 28,000 feet so it doesn’t impact jetliner traffic but has forced lower-flying aircraft to divert to other flight paths. Continue reading

NOAA Confirms Tsunami On U.S. East Coast

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a statement confirming a tsunami struck the East Coast of the United States on June 13.

More than 30 tide gauges along the East Coast plus Bermuda and Puerto Rico reported tsunami incidents. The highest peak of the waves were recorded in Newport, Rhode Island where the ocean rose one foot over sea level. Continue reading

Over 13 million people tuned into the Discovery Channel on Sunday night to see Nik Wallenda cross the Grand Canyon. It was the highest rated live event in the history of the Discovery Channel and the fourth highest ratings for prime time ever.

Viewers also heard Wallenda praising the Lord and thanking Him for his protection for almost 23 minutes as he set a world record for his tightrope walk. Continue reading

Taliban Says New Unit Aiming At Foreigners

After stating that they were targeting foreigners in a Saturday terrorist attack in Afghanistan, the Taliban has announced the unit is now going to focus strictly on killing foreigners.

Pakistan’s cabinet met to discuss the attack and the potential impact on the country’s tourism. The remaining tourists in the area of the attack were evacuated by Pakistani troops following the terrorist attack. Continue reading
