Three Arrested For Helping Boston Bomber

Three people are facing charges related to assisting one of the Boston Marathon bombers.

Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakova are friends of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in UMass-Dartmouth and according to investigators removed evidence from Tsarnaev’s apartment in an attempt to deceive police. The two 19-year-olds removed a laptop, backpack and Vaseline that was used in producing the pressure cooker bombs. Continue reading

Saudi Arabian Flash Flooding Kills 13

saudifloodingAt least 13 people are confirmed dead with others missing as flash flooding struck across Saudi Arabia.

Deaths were reported in all parts of the country including the capital of Riyadh. The Saudi Civil Defense Authority is urging people to avoid valleys and plains. Heavy rainfall has been deluging the country since Friday. The rain is being called the heaviest to hit Saudi Arabia in 25 years. Continue reading

Researchers: “Bird Flu Serious Threat”

birdfluAs 24 people are now confirmed dead from H7N9 bird flu, researchers are saying that it poses a “serious threat” because of the pace and severity of the outbreak.

Professor John McCauley of the World Health Organization told reporters it was “unusual to get these numbers” so quickly at the discovery of a new virus. One of the big problems with H7N9 is that it does not create symptoms in birds so it is almost impossible to detect without testing all birds. Continue reading

Pentagon Seeks Advice on Religious Freedom from Group That Compares Evangelism to Rape

The Air Force is seeking recommendations on their official guide to religious tolerance from an anti-Christian group that said Christian evangelism is the same as rape and is advocating that any Christian in uniform who shares their faith should be court martialed.

Mikey Weinstein, president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, said he and others from their organization met with Pentagon officials on April 23rd to discuss how they could stop a “tidal wave of fundamentalists.” Continue reading

Gosnell Attorney Calls Prosecutors “Elitist” and “Racist”

The attorney presenting closing arguments in the case of the Philadelphia Abortion House of Horrors said the prosecutors were elitists and racists who made a big deal out of nothing to charge a minority doctor with crimes.

Government Moving Morning-After Abortion Pill Over the Counter

Just days before a court-imposed deadline to lift all age restrictions on the morning-after abortion pill, the government is offering a compromise that will allow the pill over the counter to any woman 15 or older.

Abortion proponents celebrated the news.

“This decision is a step in the right direction for increased access to a product that is a safe and effective method of preventing unintended pregnancies,” said Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash. “It’s also a decision that moves us closer to these critical availability decisions being based on science, not politics.” Continue reading
