Superstorm Sandy could have some of the greatest reach of any storm in history.
The storm is expected to impact all the major population centers of the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions before ending later this week. Most locations will be hit with at least two inches of rain but the remaining populated areas will be struck by storm surges in harbors and coastlines.
Locations in West Virginia, western Virginia, western Maryland and lower Ohio could end up having feet of snow rather than rain due to falling temperatures.
Temperatures in western Pennsylvania are expected to fall close to freezing tonight bringing a mix of snow and sleet.
Most major highways in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland continue to be closed in the wake of the storm.
