Eleven terrorists have been arrested in Jordan in connection to an al-Qaeda plot. The men are reported to have planned attacks on Western diplomats and high-traffic locations like shopping centers.
Officials told the BBC the attack was planned to fall on the anniversary of attacks in Amman on November 9, 2005 when three al-Qaeda terrorists made homicide bomb attacks on three hotels killing 60 people. The plot reportedly has been in the planning stages since June where al-Qaeda operatives trained the men to create homemade explosives.
The attack included plans to bring TNT, explosives and mortar shells from Syria.
State-run media reported the intent of the attack was to “cause the highest number of casualties and extensive physical damage.”
