2 Timothy 3:1-8 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.
An Alabama church is stepping out on faith and sponsoring a billboard aimed at making men think twice about their decision to patronize a local strip club.
The Rock Church in Birmingham, Alabama has placed a billboard directly behind a strip club that reads “Strip for me. – Jesus” along with the scripture reference Hebrews 12:1.
The verse reads “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” (ESV)
Pastor Mike McClure says the church expected negative response from parts of the non-Christian community but that the message given to the men who visit the club is more important.
“The scripture says…slows down, maybe your life is slow because of stuff you need to strip off. When you begin to strip watch how fast your life goes,” McClure told Fox News. “We strategically picked the strip club because we want the brothers who are walking in…to know God has a greater cause for your life.”
McClure believes the idea of taking men away from strip clubs and having them invest in God, their families and themselves to build a strong family foundation.
“It all starts with a good man in the house,” McClure said.
