Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).
Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, head of Bangladesh’s Jamaat-e-Islami Islamic group, has been sentenced to death after convictions on murder, torture and rape committed during the nation’s 1971 war for independence.
Jamaat-e-Islami has launched a nationwide strike in protests that have turned violent. Thousands of police have been ordered into the Dhaka area to increase security.
Fifteen people have been killed and around 200 injured in clashes between Jamaat-e-Islami and government forces. Sayeedi’s group was opposed to Bangladesh gaining independence and worked with pro-Pakistan forces to try and quell opposition to Pakistani rule.
There has been a large counter-protest to Jamaat-e-Islami as families and supporters of the victims of Islamic terror have called for death sentences for those convicted of war crimes.
“[This is a] victory for all the people,” state prosecutor Syed Haider Ali told AFP news agency.
Sayeedi was shown to have been part of a group that forced Hindus to convert to Islam or be killed. He also looted and seized property of Hindus that supported independence.
