Senior officials are said to be investigating why a supervisor told the elite unit to leave.
“I don’t think it’s a far stretch to say that some lives may have been saved if we were allowed to intervene,” a source inside the Capitol police told the BBC.
Officers’ union head Jim Konczos said the Cert officers who arrived are trained to deal with live shooter situations and are expert marksmen.
Officials said the allegations were “very serious” and that the team’s entry into the building possibly would have saved lives.
