Best Actor Winner Thanks God; Takes Fire From Critics

Mark 13:13 “You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.”

It wasn’t that long ago that most of the winners in major award shows like the Academy Awards would thank God before anyone else.  That has faded in recent years.

So it is not surprising that many major media outlets noted that when Matthew McConaughey won Best Actor for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club” Sunday night that they pointed out his strong thank you to God.

“First off I want to thank God, because that’s who I look up to. He’s graced my life with opportunities that I know are not of my hand or any other human hand,” McConaughey said in his speech. “He has shown me that it’s a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates. In the words of the late Charlie Laughton, who said, ‘When you got God you got a friend and that friend is you.'”

He went on to thank his family with special thanks to his mother and his late father.

Critics immediately pounced on the actor for his speech, slamming his credit to God.

“Just stop the stupid God talk,” wrote one critic quoted by Fox News.  “I thought we could get through the Oscars without someone thanking God but no he had to ruin it….”

  1. “Ruin it” for who??? The atheists? I for one was super Blessed by Matthew’s thank you!! Freedom of speech means just that!!! Keep it up Mathew, and you will continue to see where your help comes from….

  2. Hallelujah! Just keep on thanking & praising God & His presence will be in your midst. Devil hates to lose control. He is under God’s & our feet. Don’t mind his whining. Praise God from whom all blessings flow so more people get Him!
    Shalom!

  3. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Matthew! The day will come when all the critic’s mouths will be shut. This will happen!!!! Genuinely thanking God is extremely wise. He will open those doors that are right for you if you trust Him. Hollywood hates anything that has to do with God and values, so you better learn to take the heat! Hollywood, live it up now because this is all you’ll get and what terrible doom awaits you!!!

  4. God will never be left out..The more they try to kick God to the curb, the more we believers run to Him! And what MM said is the truth!! I’ll shout it from the mountain tops, the valleys, the bus stop on a street!

    • Heard about it the next day. That was wonderful what he said about GOD. GOD bless him for telling the truth.

  5. It is about time that God is mentioned by His people, that is what is wrong with this world now. Also, Matt. was not the only one, the one lady gave Jesus praise and thanksgiving at the beginning of her thanks to the
crowd for her oscar and the song “His eyes is on the sparrow” was sung. I think the oscars was great!

  6. Whats so amazing to me, is how the people of the world and particularly our country, and definitely in all 7 realms that make up our world, whether the Government, Religion, the Arts and Entertainment, Finance and the economy
( love for MONEY), Science, Education, and lastly Health, still don’t get the picture. God is returning!

He’s doing things to change the landscape of our society and the world we live in. He’s not taking no for an answer, he is coming to rule and reign for Ever. The

What makes me so sad…is to think that the people who see all these things around them happening and they question why are all these things happening why is the weather changes wires are rumors of wars why do people hate each other so much, and then when a man who puts God first, comes in and says HE gives the glory to God, they should attack Museum in others to give God the glory.

There going to be more scientist, more apps tweaks, more people in the arts, more doctors more politicians, more engineers …there’s going to be more peoplec of every type …in every walk of life making then sells known as those who serve the living God!

    Keep watching you will see…..
