Search teams have found the body of an 18-year-old man who had been swept away by flooding in the San Antonio, Texas area.
Avron Adams and a friend were caught in the floodwaters of the usually dry Cibolo Creek in Schertz, Texas. Adams’ friend clung to a branch and was able to get to safety but Adams was unable to hold on.
Storms roared through the area Saturday and knocked out power to around 12,000 customers. The flash flooding closed dozens of streets in the city of San Antonio and the surrounding county. In addition to Adams, two women were killed by the flash flooding including one who was swept away moments before rescuers were to reach her.
The woman reportedly had driven into water that was running four feet above the floodwaters. The car in the current tipped a rescue boat and as firefighters climbed back on the boat, water shifted and the woman and the car disappeared into 25 foot deep water.
The heavy rains began Friday night and continued through the day Saturday. The San Antonio International Airport received 9.57 inches of rain according to the National Weather Service.
