The Book of Revelation tells us that one day, a single man will rule all the people and nations on the earth: “And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation.” Revelation 13:7 (NLT) With each passing day more and more nations are surrendering their sovereignty to larger global institutions such as the European Union, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Court.
British Prime Minster David Cameron told reporters today that if he is given another term in the 2015 election that he will create a referendum that will allow residents to vote whether to remain in the European Union.
Opponents of the move, while saying the UK’s membership needs to be renegotiated, said that leaving the decision up to the public was a “gamble” and against the national interest.
The vote would give people the option to stay in the EU under new terms or entirely leave the EU.
Cameron said that with the EU’s plans to further integrate their countries through banking system reforms and a single banking oversight agency with multi-national power, it is the right time for Britons to decide their future.
The move was met with consternation among EU members. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she would listen to what she termed British “wishes” but that “cherry picking” is not an option. She said Europe needed more integration rather than less.
