Revelation 6:5,6 NCV When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse, and its rider held a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard something that sounded like a voice coming from the middle of the four living creatures. Catalonia, a region of Spain that has expressed a desire to become an independent country, has asked the Spanish government for a $9 billion euro bailout. The Catalonian regional government said the funds would pay down debt and meet targets for deficit reduction.
The region initially requested a $5 billion bailout in August, 2012.
The bailout request comes as the newly elected Catalonian leaders pledged a referendum on the region’s independence.
Catalonia is responsible for one-fifth of Spain’s GDP, but has $13.6 billion euros in debt payments in 2013.
Spain, one of the worst hit countries in the Eurozone by the continent wide recession, has raised $23 billion euros for its regions through the treasury, Spanish banks and a national lottery. However, it has borrowed heavily and has lower production due to near record unemployment rates.
