Heavy flooding has swept through the Philippines after several storms leaving at least 70 percent of the capital of Manila underwater.
The national weather agency of the Philippines has issued a red alert for the Manila metropolitan area and nearby provinces saying more severe flooding is expected.
The flooding has killed seven people and at least 130,000 people have been evacuated from their homes. Video from government officials shows the water chest deep in some parts of center city Manila.
Financial markets and government offices throughout the area were closed because of the flooding. The rain was magnified by a tropical storm over the ocean making the already heavy monsoon rains almost a constant wall of water.
Several dams are reaching critical levels and could fail if the rain continues according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The same region was struck by heavy monsoon rains last years resulting in many deaths.
